We fit 165 tyres at work onto an 8" wide wheel for a guy who has a mk1 golf GTI, so I won't have any problems. Working at a VW garage has it's benefits!Quote:

Thing is, the rims width/offset isn't as crucial as the tyres. The wheel itself isn't going to rub the bodywork, only the tyre. The Revo rims I have on now are miles away from the arch (more than 12mm) without tyres on, so I'm confident those new wheels won't touch the bodywork at all. Going for the 30mm smaller width of tyre will give MORE clearance.
