Liking what youve done with the heater.
that matrix/blower is genius, well done for making it all work.
If I'm being honest I got the idea from Baxter's attempt, remember him saying he had issues mounting the blower tho. Hopefully with some nice ducting it'll clear the screen and use the centre vents for myself.

Nice work Iain, although the heater idea wasn't yours I feel that you have executed the design alot better than your influence lol
I'll pop over to see you next week at some point :thumb:
mine only had to last for 2months thru winter, **** spending time on it lolQuote:

dont blow enought, the matrix is that tight, it just ends up blowing back thru the fan and stalling itQuote:

thats what i was thinkingQuote:

Benn also benefit of using the standard one is I get to retain the standard switch and 3 speed settings :)
Scott/Kevster it's on TAS solid mounts, I think it has cleared enough not to cause problems - the pipe may touch the manifold but it shouldn't crush the pipe in to the matrix solid pipe. If it does look close I can undo the matrix bolts and pull it out slightly too :)
on mine i used a bar and bent the end a small amount , oh no sorry that was the cluch cable hole lol pay no notice to me mate lol
Just keep your eye on it once its running as you might get some rubbing from the inlet onto the pipe from any movement etc, but if the mounts are solid you might be OK, just mu old car did that! :thumb:Quote:

Figured I'd go for a little more discreet this time although this bad boy is supposedly 139dB!
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/250.JPG
Mounted up my strut brace temporarily:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/251.JPG
And got the horn mounted on a tab welded to it:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/252.JPG
Looks quite discreet in the bay so I'm happy with that. Just the wiring left now (using a relay provided in the kit cos it draws more power than a standard one):
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/253.JPG
Seeing that gives me the horn..... baboom tish! lol
Good work bud, looks neat in there as you say.
Finished wiring up the horn, it's plenty loud enough for such a small little unit lol
Made a bit of a crap discovery day, the doors were either not painted on the bottom edge or (more likely) placed down on something hard, leaving exposed metal. Both are suffering from surface rust along the bottom edge, not what you want on Nova doors that are prone to it anyway! :(
Was planning on fitting the heater blower and finishing the cooling system but I failed to get one from the scrappy so I ploughed on with the exhaust (was fun to chop something up after the terrible day so far!)
Silencer ready to replace the kink:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/254.JPG
Nice and shiny but will be painting it black to fit the rest of the system:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/255.JPG
18" silencer body:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/256.JPG
And 3" left on either side (standard is 2" but asked for the extra length to fully replace the kink:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/257.JPG
And what I've ended up with at the end of the day, just tacked in to place at the moment but if tomorrow's mockup looks good I'll weld it up proper and hopefully fit it:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/258.JPG
Got some Stainless Steel 308LSi wire for the job so hopefully get some good welds on it
Looking good dude. Get the doors back too him asap.
Touched them up with some paint for now. Can't have the doors off cos it lives outside
Shame to here sbout the doors, but its not the end of the wold you can sort it.
Good job on the system, trust me you have plenty to play with there, an its all push fit so theres some guve there too.
Scott
Good work on the exhaust!
Exhaust looks sound. Could do with making something like that myself.
Great looking project, i will be keeping an eye on this one.
Welds weren't that pretty, blew a few holes where I may have worked the ends a little too thin, but meh it's on:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/259.JPG
Welds cleaned up and whole lot painted in VHT paint:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/260.JPG
Fancied trying a silicone-based sealer for the system joins, opposed to exhaust sealers that dry and go brittle. Picked up some Loctite 5920 with a high temperature resistance (275C continuous):
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/261.JPG
Fitted it up - took about 3 attempts and a lot of hammer action to get it fitting well. Kept hitting the fuel tank rear edge etc. But it's on, stealth tailpipe:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/262.JPG
And total of 3 boxes so hopefully should be quite quiet:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/263.JPG
Good work.
Are you hoping have this out in the summer?
I'm aiming to have it on-the-road for April this year, hopefully can meet this deadline
Sound :)
I may even have a drive over to bad 'ass Notts to see it :p
looking good bud !! very snug to the tank
You're welcome round any time Adam :)
Yeah its snug to the tank, if I wobble it by hand it doesn't touch tho and it's on very hard poly mounts so hopefully be ok. Worth putting some heat-reflective tape on the tank to protect it maybe?
the one i had on the jyj was very close too but i never botherd , or mabe rap that part ?? i dont know lol
thinking About it rapping it sounds stupied
Wrapping it may make it touch lol Might look in to that though
Mine sits that close and it doesnt tap on the tank, and its on original mounts.
yeah it will be fine!!!! dont worry iain .
wish i still had my white sri :(
even if it did touch, flash point of petrol is 250 degrees, I doubt your exhaust would be able to heat it to that kind of temperature that far back.
edited as it's far lower than I thought after looking it up :p
Yeah 250c, assume you mean autoignition temperature and not flash point too?
Looks good Ian.
I have painted my fuel tank red too lol, its all i had at the time.
Paul
+10bhp red fuel tank is the way forward. Mine lost a fair amount of paint due to hammer action earlier though lol
looks a nice fit dude, mine sits slightly lower but its on **** mounts lol, will be nice to see this finished!
