[Gordon Ramsey] ping pong ball, pudding bowl, DONE! [/Gordon Ramsey]
:D
cool, you answered correct :thumb: lol
i think back when we did mine we did an average of ten attempts just to be overly sure. As for the autocalibration lol lol lol lol that never did inspire me with confidence, if that was as easy as it read i would also expect the unit to make me a cup of coffee afterwards
remembered that vid you showed me......no, not that one ;) - the one of the Nurberg with PiP of the home made G-meter!
tell me about it - I felt the same!
maybe I should do a few more tests, but as said I'm not too bothered about it being so accurate that I have to rely on it to read 29.9mph to go through a 30zone speed camera...
i like the fact its a decimal point speedo, ie: 100.7mph lol thats pretty cool.
another thing I could do to test it, is to ride down to Combe with my TomTom sat nav in the car aswell, to see if they both match
the vid i showed you, with a ping pong ball, and a G spot meter... was that not Debbie Does Dallas? no?Quote:

The 1/4mile would've been chosen as most users will be able to access (RWYB) a quarter mile to do the measurement on.
It does look very factory fit and sooooo lucky that the threads matched up on the pickup!
Was nice to catch up and chat earlier :thumb:
Yeah Oli, was lucky that the threads matched... was kinda chuffed, was also nice to meet up, albeit absolutely lashing it down in a McDonalds carpark getting all hot and steamy in the 'barge of love'
Dan - as you had one of these prevously, was it identical? by which I mean - did you have to set the trigger points?
I'm struggling getting it calibrated, it' asking me how my trigger points there are, trigger points being the amount of 'points' that pass the sensor every one revolution of the wheel.
So I entered '01', thinking that the "point" was the magnet, so the magnet passed the sensor once every revolution, but now, apparnently I can do 234mph in first gear lol
The number of 'trigger points' go from 01 - 40... I've now set it to 2, and it looks more like what it should be, ie: 5th gear, 2krpm = 34.9mph... which is about right, but wanna make sure its calibrated correctly.
Can anyone shed any light?
Hmmmmm tbh its been so long ago since i fitted mine (nov 2004) that it doesnt ring any bells tbh, the sensor is of different design but the unit is identical. What i will do is dig out my old instructions tomorrow and have a quick read through and see if it jogs my memory  It makes sense to do such a thing so we must of done something similar but what exactly doesnt spring to mind.......watch this space....
Bring the instructions tomorrow. I'll have a gander too
Is it not because you have the sensor mounted inline with the direction of rotation, whereas it should be perpendicular to it?
bless you.... come again? lolQuote:

The only other thing I can think of, is that I need to mount the sensor horizontally, as opposed to vertically, which is no biggie... I'll test it properly on the way down to Combe this morning :)
let us know as if its not suposed to pass the end ive fitted one to my mates celica wrong lolQuote:

Cheers Ol - I'll try it horizontally and go from there.
So, we travelled down to Chippenham to the Eurofest Action Day at Castle Combe, thoroughly enjoyed myself, was a great fun day out!
As always, here are a couple of photos that were taken of me whilst on track.
First three - thanks to Chris Harrison Photography (http://www.chrisharrison.smugmug.com/)

Looks mega out on the track - Has the bottom of the passenger rear arch had a repair ?
Certainly has :thumb: a poor one at that was done by the old boy who had the car before me
1st time I've ever noticed it lol
I'd love to be passenger in this round a track sometime :)
You cant beat that bonnet bra fella lol.
isn't it just awesome Chris lol
oh, I found some footage on YouTube from a Golf I think that was out in your session (your car is in the shot) along with the black evo, white scooby and silver scooby... i'll pm you the link :)
i take it the bonnet is fibreglass with it bending in the middle.
Oh, trust me, its fooking awesome fun :D lol lolQuote:

Again, cheers for the passenger ride
Chris certainly knows his away around a camera better than most :thumb:
No problem on the passenger ride, just a shame we couldn't see the full potential due to the wet track, hey - first time I've ever hit a barrier with you in the car lol
Brian - totally mate, just a not very good quality fibreglass bonnet, vert light, very flimsey... hence the need for the tank / gaffer tape
Im glad mine is the heavy weight type as it came un pinned and still atayed in 1 shape.
Could you send a link to the vid please fella.
PM'd you the link Chris :thumb:
So, I cracked on with the things I said I wanted to get done...
I wanted to lose the clutteredness behind my new SPA gauge here
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1006.jpg
So I removed this completely
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1028.jpg
Got some thin plastic, and sprayed it black, so we'll have this, voila
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1029.jpg
New view from the drivers seat, much better imo
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1030.jpg
New weight saving/ aero dynamic purchase went ahead with my SPA mirrors
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1031.jpg
Old mirrors, 690grams each x 2 = 1380grams total (1.38kgs)
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1032.jpg
New mirrors, 130grams each x 2 = 260grams total, way less than half of the weight of one standard mirror, and more aerodynamic... 1.12kg lost
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1033.jpg
No mirror
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1034.jpg
Template for baseplate that I'll make, also out of thin plastic, or carbon
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1035.jpg
After I came off at Combe and hit the wall (first time ever) bit of t-cut later makes it a distant memory, altho it was awesome at the time... back to o normal!
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc1036.jpg
I wait to see the impact vid mate.
Cheers for the link.I think they felt the same way about some peoples track manors on saturday.
Good stuff.
That wing has cleaned right up, cant even tell now
I have some carbon that would do you base plates perfect... and i didnt know you came off?
Could you not have fitted the spa speedon in that place of the old one? Just built in to the plastic?
I was thinking the same Benn
unfortunately the standard clocks don't sit at the correct angle, as they look up (ie: too tilted back), so they're not parallel to my face/ seating position as I sit fairly low down in the car... and because the SPA is an LCD display, it's not at the right angle, the digits go very faint... have I explained that right?
Yep i get ya. Wasnt sure if you couldnt have sit it in the plastic at an angle facing towards you.. If that makes sence..
You mincer, you should have left the wing as a battle scar lol
Enjoyed catching up with you yesterday mate. You were properly flying :)
Thanks Lee :)
Battle scars don't 'do' it for me unfortunately... so I wanted it to look reet again :)
Good stuff Olly, looks like the old girl went ok yesterday, good stuff mate:thumb:
The mirrors look good, can't wait to see them on, nice job on the speedo too:D
