Mdf is way too absorbent. It will soak up anything. How about doubling up 18mm shuttering ply, and when the top is trashed, replace it?

No liquids will be going near it.I considered ply but its quite dear.i cant decide what to do now lol
Will be building engines on it (not too often i hope!) Welding on it,general faffage etc.
Ply is expensive mdf is spongy and steel is too loud and filthy.
Just mdf it and use sheet steel over the top. I've noticed the boards (mdf) on my racking have mold on them after a few weeks of bot letting air through the garage :/
Parts department at local dealer went out of there way to track down all the parts for the cam belt cover I need for my GSi :)
