Iain, yeah they do
Oh yeah forgot you bought an oil tanker's worth of it lol Only found I didn't have enough when it was getting dark so meh, I'll run up to Vaux at some point as I'll need some more anyway.Quote:

They do but its not that darkQuote:

Looking good mate, nice to see it almost there now, did you get the wiper working, an watch that parcel tape on the heater black, that might pull the lacquer or paint off when removed!
Keep up the good work mate, you'll get it done in time for April easy..
Scott
Oops forgot about that tape, I'll remove that tomorrow. :) I got the wiper working okay using a standard Nova arm and 19" blade, not tested it yet but looks like it'll sweep the screen very well.
I meant the earthing factor, just wanted to know if it had been checked mate.
Scott
Oh gotcha, remember talking to you about that the meet now! Yeah it wasn't working cos it was on my lap, but cleaned up where the Citroen linkage meets the shell (cos it was painted) and bolted it on and it's working fine now.
Looking good dude, the front ride hight hurts me tho.
Good good mate, glad its all working fine, now just get it all built and running dude! :thumb:Quote:

Few odd pics from what I've done this weekend, nothing that exciting to report although I've had the engine cranking over on the starter motor till the oil light went out so should be ready for starting when it's wired up and fuel lines are made.
Chilly conditions to be working outside but its gotta be done:

First off I whipped off my coilovers to see if I could cut down the bumpstops. Bumpstop is 45mm tall, the shock bottoms out about 3cm further than the bumpstop so probably would have been able to remove 2cm...
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/155.JPG
Except one of the pistons has somehow got damaged underneath the bumpstop! No idea how, but I wasn't happy with this passing through the seal so they're back on as they were now :(
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/156.JPG
Next up, this had somehow broken which meant the clocks were only half working:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/157.JPG
Carefully I dabbed some solder to it, then tinned a wire and joined it to the circuit, job jobbed:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/158.JPG
Rest of the wiring MESS I need to attend to:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/159.JPG
To make all my "aftermarket" things nice and neat I'll be installing this secondary fusebox:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/160.JPG
Next up, dug my Ashley 4-2-1- exhaust manifold out and modified it to clear thethermostat housing. Shaved off the markings on the stat housing too so it would go on straight:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/161.JPG
Looks chunky!
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/162.JPG
Route past the sump looks ok too, doesn't hang too low.
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/163.JPG
I did plan to weld in a lambda boss with the idea it could be used for AFR tools etc at a later date, but the manifold join is straight after the shaft so I can't see anywhere suitable for it.
excellent work as usual.
how bad is the damage to the shock? could you not emery tape it untill its quite smooth?
Not sure what has happened to the shock, it's very rough to the touch and looks like the shiny stuff has many chipped or flaked off?
If I ever need lower in the future I'll get some new shorter bodied coilovers, meh.
painting or wrapping the mani?
(whotf is Iain? re-insate Iainel now! lol)
Painting, looking for some suitable paint at the moment...
Looking good mate, nice to see your still getting stuff done even when someone keeps distracting your attention away from it! lol
Don't mention that "w" word, I feel your pain! lol
Did you have a nosey to see if you had any mk2 clocks?
Id wrap the manifold with black wrap tbh.
No paint ever stays on them as they rust from the inside out.
Not keen on wrapping as ashley recommended not to. Will have a look Ian but yo can borrow the gsi ones if its just to test it out
Manifold looks impressive, got a nice width to it ;) lol
maybe once this FWD car is on the road you'll be able to get sideways and put it back in the same direction lol
You can fit a Lambda boss mate, i did in mine, and don't wrap it, and don't use engine paint that burns off in seconds, use stove/BBQ paint by plasticote.
Here's where my boss is in mine.

Good going on getting on with things in the cold mate.
Scott
Any pics of where it sits in relation to the sump and driveshaft Scott? I marked out a position where I'd be happy for it to sit (behind the shaft) but it's too near the end of the manifold. Unless I put it in the front section hmmm...
Sorry not really dude only the one's in the thread, it clears everything fine there, as mine now has a lambda sensor in it as the grub screw got lost at a garage when it was mot'd last, and the lambda don't touch nothing.Quote:

Drill a hole in the manifold and weld a bung on, then fit a plug when you don't have the widebad llambda fitted... like this
I was poodling round a roundabout yesterday, no snow etc and the car felt really light, had a full 4wheel drift for 3/4 of the roundabout. Sod the vectra, get a saab on ditch finders...:thumb:Quote:

Cheers Scott, if you happen to be under there any time soon snap a shot of exactly where it sits. :)
Horizontal is ok.
Anything as long as the probe doesnt point up (fitted underneath the manifold...) If you get me.
he was talking about snow tyres the other night FFS lolQuote:

Trial fitted my strut brace as I thought I noticed a potential problem:

Yep thats not too good:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/165.JPG
Whipped the pipe off and remade it with a banjo on one end, just need a banjo bolt:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/166.JPG
Engine loom is now connected to the fusebox, I need to lay my fuel pump wires and fit a relay to provide switched live feeds from the +ve:
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/167.JPG
Connected up my oil pressure gauge wire on to the arrowed spade and the clocks smoked like mad and burnt out another trace lol Something's wrong, but what? It's just one wire from the pressure sensor on the engine to the clocks
http://iainel.co.uk/images/forums/NovaWIP2a/168.JPG
Sure mines plugged in there...
Started a help thread here like you suggested: http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1743093
Oh no wiring problems for you now :( not good at all.
Getting there Iain.
Annoying to see the classic white nova and dirty/rusty rain water marks still continues... Lol
Just made up a fuel line end as a test. Black platic/nylon fuel line, dipped in hot water at the end and pushed in a barbed 8mm brass 8mm-8mm connector, and fitted a hose clamp. Look okay to use as a fuel line?

No different to whats use by manufacturers with push on fittings. Ok I say.
Yes fine.
