some of you may know I work in a hospital, got a text over the weekend to say a family friend had fallen down the stairs and was in intensive care over the bank holiday. i couldn't find out much as the family asked the ward not to give out any details.
Today i popped in to see him and they have performed a craniotomy on him and completely removed the left hand side of his skull. apparently he fractured his skull in three places and the subsequent brain swelling would have killed him without removing the side of of head. he was awake but his eyes weren't tracking together and I don't think he knew who i was.
the poor bugger lost his 9 year old daughter many years ago due to a terminal illness and both his sons have downs syndrome. his wife passed away last week and he fell two days before the funeral.
i went to visit him on behalf of my wives family and after briefing them of his condition, they didn't seem keen on visiting him due to the state he is in.
what the poor sod needs now is friends to support him and i hope they suck it up and go visit.
