bloody hot toddies...... i can't spell now....
cold weather sending me to sleep as soon as i get home :(
its the law of diminishing returns.......
the people who did ours tried to get me interested in external wall insulation.. with a grant, it was £5k.... so i said no..
but, my missus has asthma, and we own a dog, so the heating is off in the day & the door gets opened.....
our biggest saving is that we don't have a power shower. or any shower.. we have baths... guess what?? we burn less energy to run a bath than to have a 5 minute shower... some people in the energy supply trade have been lying for years
enjoy bathing in your own filthy water, showers ftw
lol
dirty *******
funny that......
you get advised to bath newborn babies......
please provide a list of waterborne bacteria that is present in bath water..... cos the airborne bugs are way more likely to kill you.... showers make the whole room damp & hot, which is a perfect breeding ground for germs
are you not getting the energy savings mixed up with the water savings, of a shower vs bath, as i dont think Ive heard of a shower saving money over a bath, especially when you look at the cost of electric over gas, i can easily see why a bath would save money over a electric power shower
just never feel as clean after a bath as a shower, mind you i do have to bathe every now and then to rest what ever injury's Ive inflicted on my self during a normal working day lol
I like soaking in a bath especially when I feel a tad stressed, I have a beer and well relax, then I get out and get nagged at for being in the bath too long.. so have another beer lol
Long soak, then shower lol double waste
1. like fcuk does the severn trent region need to save water.... its not like we are short of it
2. running 8-10kw of power shower for 5-10mins costs a hell of a lot more than running a combi boiler on warm to run a bath for 5-10mins. there was an energy saving phone in on the radio & lots of people found out the cost difference was quite a shock..
if you have a gas hob its cheaper to boil water on that then a kettle aswell, a kettle uses between 60 and 80p a hour, I'm looking at getting a old skool kettle for my hob doesn't take anymore time to boil either
a kettel that uses 60p a hour, 4 cups of tea a day, around 3 mins to boil adds up to over 40 quid a year! shocking when you think about it and do the math
We have a hob kettle and mains one, the hob one definitely takes longer to boil with the same quantity of water, even on the baad ass ring of the hob lol
Not timed it to work out the difference but I know that the gas is 3 times cheaper per KWh than the electric.
gas is a round 3p per unit compared to electric at 15p
you can get gas tumble dryers aswell, whether the cost of fitting and maintenance out weighs the savings i dont know, but that could prove to be a massive saving over the normal electric tumble dryer that normally uses coming on 90p a hour :O
everyone that wants to save money and is willing to make these kinda changes will love the smart meters I'm fitting, its priceless information knowing exactly how much money your using, the in home display updates its self every few seconds so as soon as you turn something on you will see the running cost of it, amazing stuff
right where do you buy the signs saying no cvold callers etc, talking to them and explaining that, i dont buy anything from random people knocking on my door and i dont donate to any charitys if getting boring now.
any clever cunts are just going to be told straight, if i get attitude from them then i will just ping them out, im sick of the cunts its everyday now!!!!!
Thought this was a "What pissed you off today" thread, and not a debate on energy prices and uses in the home??
Anyways, back on topic, got stuck in a fecking car park for an hour as I couldn't get the barrier to open from the inside ¬¬
^ I seen you, mate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvncZl7X2hU
not really pissed off more bummed out, just had a phone call saying my (great) uncle john has been give a few days left to live :(
guy was such a inspiration to me a propper legend, it wasn't that long ago i was working with him on the fruit and veg and he was jumping in and out the back of the wagon lugging boxes about fit as a fiddle at over 70 years old, Thursday nights down spits picking up all the gear and everyone knew him, ****ing horrid way he is going aswell, always imagined him going nuts deep on one of the birds he was always chatting up the randy fecker lol
going to be a sad day when he passes :(
tj, it sounds like he's had a full & interesting life... celebrate it... the last thing anyone needs is for all their relatives to get all maudling now... keep him cheerful.
im seriously heart broken, he helped me out more then he will ever know.
Have to agree with Mike there TJ, sounds like he is a proper character and has left you with plenty of happy memories, hang on to those and as harsh as it might seem to say this, might be worth not going to see him before he goes, as you would rather remember him as you do now, happy and full of life, if you go see him then your last memory will be him old and frail and on deaths door
im going to have a word with my manager monday, think i need a week down south with my family.
i'm not sure that will go down too well with him... have a word with your union rep first.
ive got plently of holiday days left, he will just have to rush them through
