Awesome work!
Got a feeling there is a twist to the tale though.

Awesome work!
Got a feeling there is a twist to the tale though.
Right, I've been at it ALL day from about 9am until 20 minutes ago.
I'm very very tired lol
Theres lots I'm not happy with on the car, a couple of bits could have done with more time spending on the prep before painting. It looks OK but I'm not 100% happy with some of it.

I'm having MAJOR problems getting the front end to line up and theres loads of other things I need to do in the morning. sigh.
Looks damn good!
Shame the pictures don't show the quality of the colour.
Maybe put a black strip on the bumpers.
Even if its not perfect, fair play for all the work you've done. I don't know many people who would be trying as hard as you this close to PV.
Looks great.:thumb:
just bring a tool kit and we will finish on the camp site ;)
Good idea :)Quote:

Keep at it :)
Well, managed to get the car to PV! We were still working on it until about 1pm on Saturday. The first drive was the drive to PV, a bit risky but had to be done.
It turned out to be OK and the car ran great. Theres a few bugs that need ironing out which I can now work on without any extreme deadlines!
We were about 8 miles from home and I realised we forgot the carbon fibre panels which I was going to fit once we got there... gutted.
Heres a couple of pics from the car on the stand (not sure where I got these but they're someone elses from another thread lol):

It's far from finished, I'll keep this thread updated as I go along, I'm also gonna get some more pics which I'll post up soon.
Thanks everyone for the kind comments, this thread is one of the main things that helped me meet the deadline!
That was the plan, I had a box full of bits in the back but the heat was too much!Quote:

Nice work Kev, it looked well, and I love the colour. Can't believe how quick you got it together and at a really good standard too.
Was good to meet you too:thumb:

Scott
It won't, I've made sure he's finishing one this time, has said since we been together (5 years) he wants to get one done. Well done babe xQuote:

It's at a stage now (and I've spent that much money on it) where I won't lose interest! Infact I have the Demon Tweeks catalouge on my knee right now looking at dash parts and clocks :DQuote:

Looks ace Kev, i still dont know if to go dash out?? might make a pod for the dials etc.
Scott
I'm just planning what to do with mine, I was originally going to use some Nova GTE clocks with the hood off the mk2 dash built into a custom dash with a switch panel to the side.
Not sure not though as I've seen loads of things in the Tweeks catalouge that I want lol so back to the drawing board.
Will be making some kind of pod/panel with a switch panel though...
As the others have said well done and fair play to you Kev. I didn't think you had a cat in hells chance of getting it done AND driving it there cos you had more to do in less time than me and I was struggling and I never even got mine started!lol lol
Excellent work:thumb:
Dude that looks great,
Its come along! way since i too if off the recovery truck as a totaly standard 1.4sri, and starting stripping bits off it.
Love the yellow. Looks very nice at pv.

Popped to Demon Tweeks yesterday to have a look at some of the stuff in the flesh (it's dangerous on the wallet living so close to that place!) and came away with a bag load of switches and one of these:

I powered it up lastnight on a 12v supply:

It's a Race Technolgy - Dash2, I opted for this as it'll be road legal in an all in one unit and is fully expandable and customisable, also not forgetting I love gadgets and can hook this up to my laptop lol. I also have the option to hook it up to a data logger in the future for track usage :)
Awesome, looks expensive lol
£499 + VAT :cry:Quote:

The dash isn't in yet but I think I have everything to do it now.
I've fitted some new exhaust mount rubbers as the ones that were on were mega bodged with exhaust clamps and stuff and the exhaust was resting on the rear beam. I ripped them off and put some new ones on (cost about £4 lol) - I'll dig out the pics I took..
I've fitted the carbon fibre panels on the inside so it looks pretty good now.
The car is coming off the road after Trax and will be having at least the following thoughout the winter:It's gonna keep me busy!
- 2 x rear 1/4 panels
- Front end sorting out - I've got a new top panel in stock so might use that. I'm not keen on the chopped top panel and it's not been welded on straight so the headlights and grille won't line up properly :(
- If I can source some mint doors with handles I'll use them instead of the de-handled doors
- Full paint on the outside
- Fit the dash
- Coilovers
- Throttle bodies if funds allow :D
wOOt
Stop w00ting, your helping me! lol
TB's eh? :)
Bwarp bwarp!
Just read through this. Top marks for getting your car done to that standard in the time frame you had and the location you were working in!! I look forward to further progress updates!!
