faster and faster its the way forward. good work wth the swirl pot i had the same truble with mine, diein out of corners its annoyin:mad: losein the split seconds, because of feul starvation. 1 second is a lot in a race or half a second. good look in the futcher dar :thumb:
Yeah it was so annoying!
Many a time I have caught a slower car and had them pull away out of a bend because of it and once it starts happening it will keep happening, totally ruins the run. Thankfully its now a thing of the past.
Thanks mate :thumb:Quote:

Dar has a fibre glass boot so no need.
even better:thumb: you can get the fiberglass doors to i think.
What you got planned for this winter then Dar? Any major plans to have done for next years April Action day?
I am aiming to have mine sorted for that as the first track session in it!
The plan is more power for next year. But only if I have the money for it.
can you confirm its 2x m8 females and 2x m10 males i will need, emailed a company with the link and they said it was all males i needed. Also i read somewhere it doesnt work to well with the quickshift linkage, is this true as i have a spare standard nova linkage which i could use although would need to modify it again for the 6spd box
Dar once again, Hats off for creating such a weapon.
This thing is an animal on track at Castle Combe. Really does Nova's proud.
Thanks CG, really apprciate the post:thumb:
Still havent had a chance to say hello yet Dar!
I know! Maybe at the next meet:thumb:
After my excitement at Llandow I decided that :-
1) The altenator tensioner was rubbish with the rubber in it.
2) I needed some more manly hubs.
3) My fuel pressure regulator needed to be moved to the other side of the fuel rail. This would make the fuel lines appear more messy but it needs to be done. There just isn't enough room for it where it is.
Now I've been thinking about the altenator tensioner ever since I seen that SBD had a fancy one. Anyway I got my thinking cap on and came up with this. Easy to do and works like a charm. No more trying to keep the tension on with one hand and doing up the nut with the other for me:D
The bits (All M8)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...88_800x600.jpg
I did change the bits list everso slightly after this picture. I got rid of the stud and used a small piece of threaded bar instead so that the bottom of the rosejoint sat on the flat surface of the manifold.
The whole thing looks like this once assembled.

On the car. As you can see I can wind on the tension by turning the head of the bolt:thumb:

Its nice and solid and looks like it will do the job nicley.
I have also moved the fuel pressure regulator to the other side of the fuel rail and managed to reuse/cut and fit the fuel lines. I just need to get two new ones made up.
I have also decided what I am going to do with the hubs. I have already got two new 2l hubs and I have sourced a bearing that has the right dimensions apart from its 4mm bigger (OD) than the origonal Nova one. I am basically going to do this.

If anyone has any information on where I can get the nice billet ally bit then the info would be appreciated. I could recreate it, or something that would do the same job but I would rather buy some rather than getting them made up.
Im liking the alternator tensioner, how much were the bits?
The two rose joints cost me ?11 delivered from McGill Motorsports on eBay
Cool.
Might order a couple.
Much easier solution than using a crow bar to set the tension lol
Similar to the alt tensioner I'm making. Like it.
I recognise those knuckles too btw. :thumb:
Ahh it was you! I was trying to think who else was making one on here. A worth while exercise:thumb:Quote:

OK, the problem is detailed in my last update i.e. no room for my cool little FPR so it needed to be moved. I also built the little rose-jointed altenator tensioner. Anyway I now have it all back together and working again. I have still not done the hubs, but I have little access to my garage at the mo.
This is how the fuel system was routed before.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...08_800x600.jpg
and this is how its routed now. Not as neat is it :( But the FPR is on the other side of the fuel rail and there are no tight squeezes.

See, loads of room :thumb:

That's it. Hopefully the next time I update this thread there will be some nice new hubs with nice big bearings pictured:thumb:
Hurrrrrar!!! Update-tastic
About time you did some work on your own car lol :)
Looking good mate, I think it looks just as neat as it used to
Whats the deal with the ally bit ??Quote:

I had mine machined out to fit the Grp A bearings, didn't have it machined all the way thru tho as there wasn't gonna be much material left on the outside edge of the knuckle, there isn't a groove for the outside circlip, the circlip pretty much just sits there as a spacer between the bearing and knuckle, i had a new groove machined for the backside one tho.
Done about 7k miles with it like this with no probs.
Rich
Not a bad idea.
Where do you get your braided hose from mate? Love some for my nova

There's no need to go to the extreams of the alloy bit. I know of two people who have simaliar ones made, but the company wont do them again.
I know a few nova's running 250-300bhp with hard useage on the large bearings and they give no trouble.
Keith
I had both grooves machined back in for the two circlips, but yours sounds a good option too!!Quote:
