put the wheels in the house next to the radiator it will harden the paint then when tyres are fitted use a bit of t-cut to bring them back up.

Cheers for the comments everyone :)
Got some 60mm rear springs from SRS1 this week, so they will be going on soon :)
Hats off for the carbs fitted.
Wheels look cool too. You made the right decision!
very nice thread, very interesting, how did you solve the port mismatching on the inlet manifold in the end then? did you dowel it to the head? and also when you had the engine running on the 1.8spi throttle body were you still running the engine on the 1.2spi ecu? i'm just asking out of interest that's all, i'm well impressed with the 84bhp you got on that set up, was it economical?
Maccas
softstars do look wikid on corsa's though just like speedlines on nova'sQuote:

It was the 1400 engine that made 84 ish bhp. It drove great and was very economical, 35+MPG driving foot to floor everywhere, about 40mpg on the motorway, even with a CR box.
It had the std 1.4i ecu, and 1.4i injector. Seemed to fuel ok.
I was planning on fitting the AST2, a 1.6i injector, and getting a "chip" to raise the rev limit(as it made 84bhp on the limit, a higher limit could of seen 90+), but decided go for 40s instead.
Cheers for the comments :)
Burgo, i wish you had mentioned that before i started the refurb! Lol. Sounds like a top idea so you can get paper/masking tape under the lip of the tyres.
Right, carried on with the cesaros today.
Got the centre caps smoothed, took fooking ages, many skims of filler, hours of sanding etc,Lol.
But they came out quite well, not 100% perfect smooth, but ok for me, and the time it took.
Ive not seen a set completely smoothed before, so i hope its a first :p :)
As std they have a badge, under the badge is a 1/4" hole, and a 2inch recess where the badge sits.
Im hoping totally smooth will make the wheels look bigger than they actually are.

They look alright I suppose :p
:p
Very nice Ad, sell me the other set!:p
Lol, theres wayyyy too many people asking the buy the otherset lol
So, i know you ain't selling them though :(
Im liking the smooth cnetre caps Ad :thumb:
Whats economy like on the carbs?
The other set may be for sale one day,Lol.
Andy-Not bad at all mate, saying they aint even set up properly, i get about 27mpg.
That includes some floored B-road action, no motorway driving.
I drove a mates XR2 which is on 40s the other week, that aint setup either, but it drives ****e compared to mine, loads of flat spots and idle all over the place(my idle is as good as it was on spi). So amazingly i seem to have got lucky and got a set of carbs almost perfectly setup for my engine.
I still wouldn't say no to a RR tweak tho, just to get a bit more low end power, but the money it may cost i'd probably rather put towards another engine tbh. Maybe a 1600 8v and bolt the carbs on that, or mpi with aftermarket ecu. Again, money i dont have atm tho :(
Want to sell the carb set-up? :pQuote:

those cesaro's look mint in white ad!!!
i was thinking about white cav slabs for mine lol
what white did you use for the rims? same as car?
No mate.
I used Gloss white. Im hoping they look ok against the glacier white paint.
Quick update:
A 1.6 16v engine should be going in in next few weeks/months :) ;)
Basically will be needing the car for work soon(will be early starts, so need 100% realiability day in, day out) and better mpg.
All 8v stuff will be for sale: Carbs,inlet,ast2, 1.4sr dizzy, 1.4sr fuel pump, 14se head, 4branch manifold etc.
PM me if anyones interested.
Hope it all goes to plan, you have a PM ;)
Quick update.
Collected this on Sat, cheers sean.

Have waterpump, cambelt, etc to replace. And getting the block all cleaned and painted up
The 1400 engine has developed a weird misfire that seems to come and go, but im hoping it lasts ok till June time, when my insurance runs out, so i can fit the 1600 16v. It will be entirely std for the minute, apart from a set of kent cams.
your not messing about are you ad lol
"Shakes head" Lol
how come you chose the x16xe? and not the c16xe?
Because this x16xe came up for sale.
Not really much difference between the two.
Both have the same potential.
O, and x16xe is ?80 less insure ;)
cool, got everything, transponder, chip key etc?
if so might aswell for less money overall, looking forward to seeing it go together as ive considered the c16 for mine
Aye mate got everything.
The wiring looks entirely straight foward too
The entire engine loom just undoes from the engine in about 20secs..
Just about 6/7 wires to the ecu to wire, and a few at the transponder pickup.
And ive got the SAI and EGR to block off, which a c16xe wouldn't have. But thats nothing an alloy sheet wont sort.
So if you want a 1600 16v i wouldn't particularly hold out for a c16xe.
nice one ad!! you have to try and get in before pv
