Good stuff Lee, about time.
Which bodyshop is it going in? (coming down my way?) :D
It'll be going to Birmingham.
Good work Lee, take some snaps when your going down :)
Yeah back down to John in Birmingham for a few weeks. Got to clean the inch of dust off it first. Just hope this smoke clears up a bit when i've driven it properly.
Is it the original turbo?
Turbo is off Phil Sutton's old Corsa but I swapped the manifolds over as it had a cracked wastegate and the one that blew up didn't. Pretty sure all the oil in the manifold would have burnt off straight away though?
GT30?? or the std kkk?
Would of expected it to have burned off yeah :(
Standard KKK unfortunately. Planning to upgrade over winter maybe.
When you drive to brimingham are you taking anyone in passenger seat for a ride lol?
Oh seen you tonight on lees road you drove reet past me i tried to keep up in the 1.poo but the boost didn't kick in YO!
Got a few people wanting to go, Pips brother is the first person who asked though.
Must have completely missed you, probably in my own little world.
if its been sitting for a long time lee could the valve guide seals have perished?
I think the rings have gone! lol Got to get you wound up Lee!
Its about time this car made it on the road.
Can i open a book now as to how long it will be staying on the road!
lmfao, pot. kettle??Quote:

How have you lowered your tie bar's? I'm using the chris astley lowered tie bar mounts and running the bar under the wishbone and it hit's the gearbox like a mofo!!
Need to figure out how to get it lower.
Raise the box keith. Sounds like you have welded the mount in to low tbh.
Nah the box is fairly high, its about 4mm off touching the chassis leg.Quote:

I really do hope its not the rings as will have to fit steel rods then. Hope its not the turbo as will need a bigger one with a tubular manifold. Must be one of the two though so going to cost me again.
Tie bars are as Rick says, no issues as yet with the car running really low.
I actually think its both the turbo and the rings(hint hint) lol
lol Let me get it on the road before I take it off again to do more stuff.Quote:

I haven't since I rebuilt it. Only drove it up and down the road a couple of times.
Cage is coming back out tomorrow after the MOT and going to be powdercoated while the car is back in the bodyshop. Not looking forward to removing it though!!
cool nice work lots of effort :thumb:
Sorry to spam your thread, but any pic's of where your box sits? Here's mine.

Keith
That does look abit low tbh Keith
I think I may upgrade my front mounts, only my rear is uprated at the moment. I'd say the weight/sag in the rubber is causing it to run low.
Still drives well though lol.
Keith
IMHO thats about 10mm lower than where you want it to be.
Lee was saying with his car on the floor he can easily get his hand between the gearbox and the tie bar and his is urba low!
i have this joyus task of welding in the f28 moun$t in a week or so!
does anybody make the rose jointed linkages?
Although keiths might sit a little lower surely its better just to run larger lower blocks on the tie bars so that his driveshafts stay at a better angle?
IMHO no as then you can and probably will encounter issues with the cross member flexing.Quote:

Good stuff
Bring it down the m6 Lee lol
Will try and get some pictures of how mine sits Keith to compare.
As Rick says MOT was passed yesterday. Car has also been tracked as the new tie bars had made it toe in loads, guys didn't know how i'd even managed to drive it there.
Car was a pain in the **** at both places as it was too low for the ramps and involved blocks of wood etc to get it on.
Smoke seems to have cleared up too now. Hard to tell how it feels to drive really as it was raining yesterday and it just spins the wheels up like mad. All in all fairly happy with it though.
Ad - It will be going down the M6 to Birmingham on Saturday morning (if it gets that far)
All good mate! I miss turbo nova driving, its great.
So how did the weekend go Lee?
Are you back lol??
