Matt, you're more than welcome to the front struts once I get some replacements. Could be a while though, as I'm looking for some Spax/Bilstein jobbies to replace them with.. and they're expensive! :(
Do you know what they are and what mm drop?Quote:

Speaking of engines, I believe this makes Alex's car a 3,041cc 24v Polo:

:D
The rear suspension wasn't too happy about hauling that all the way up from Devon lol
If you can get me a make and model I'll work out if we're better to shift that unit or one of mine down for it. MIG will be easier than TIG for the bay, I can show you either if your bored.
I'll have a look, its a pretty big unit though iirc. I'll see if Alex can find out what kit her dad has as well.
Cheltenham next weekend; one after that I'll probably be having a good nose round the engine and seeing what bits I need to get hold of; and after that I'm being posted off on a secret MOD mission to some god forsaken hellhole for a week or so. Could be a while til I actually get anything done then, in true mincing style :thumb:
No worries Sir, All the warmer for being sat in a bay with the bucket on.
As Alex's dad is a farmer I'd expect it to be MMA gear. more suitable for farm reparing.
hhmmm, already typed this once...
lmao @ 3,041cc 24v 4wd learner Polo.
Surely picking up an engine is at least 10% of your project?
better leave it at least 4 months before you even thing about fitting it to be a true mincer.
A
when you buy somethign it must "ferment" for a few months before touching it again, picking it up and looking at it confused about once every week/fortnight
I was not happy with the how low down it made the car. But the guy, who had a whole yard full of VW's said it would be fine. Gave Jack a bit of the silent treatment for a bit though lol
I actually quite enjoyed the nice peaceful quiet drive back home.
Incidentally, acquired a few other parts last week. These from ebay:

....the larger of which is the same has I had on my old hatch; its angled slightly so fits on the bonnet a treat:

This week's lesson learnt: Its fun to turn up to a Celica Club meet with Nova parts on your car, and wearing your Novaload fleece :D
oooooo them lights look good actually RJ havent really liked them when ive seen them before
Are they both headlights? If so what are you doing about indicators? (Sorry for the boring question, it looks good lol)
nice, very nice
does this meen i can have your clear front indicators now? lol
put the indicator bulbs in 1 of the lights ??
Depends what I do with the front bumper, but I may mount some small indicators in the bumper.
Can't mount indicators in the headlights afaik, I'm sure the MOT says you need to have them separate. The outer ones are H4s and the inners I think appear to be H3, i.e. additional full beam headlamps.
ive seen it done on escorts/fiestas tho
You may be right, just had a look in the manual which states this:
...which I'm assuming refers to the electrics of it, not the light output.Quote:
their operation is separate from, and not adversely affected by, the operation of any other lamp.
"Front position lamps", does that mean sidelights or headlamps?Quote:
Stop lamps or direction indicators may be combined in the same lamp housing as front and rear position lamps
Looking good Jack. I thought that dash under the front end was a splitter when you texted me that pic. LOL
How long did it take to get that post up?
Getting any closer to getting the front end welded up?
With ref to the headlamp/indicator combo, you'll need to make sure at main beam the headlamp is not too powerful so that the indicator cannot be seen.
Dont paint that front panel blue. Paint it black! Will be way too blue if you colour code it i rekon.
how about were the air conditioner fan thingy near door is,put the temp guage in thereQuote:
