I've a mint Mk2 bootlid to go on, but what do people thing about keeping the old style mk1 bootlid with the lock removed? Would it suit the GSI style?
Keith
yeah smooth the lock over on IJI's original bootlid -- it would look amazing :D
Yeah, stick with the MK1 tailgate, smooth off the lock & rear wiper and it'll tidy up the rear end loads (IMO)
Rich
I agree...Quote:

Keep the early, handleless tailgate but with a GSi roof tip spoiler IMO.
Nice shell Keith. But you knew that!
Yeah folks, think i'll keep the mk1 bootlid. Hopefully it'll look smart!
Keith
It will look quality with that boot-lid :)

Well I collected the shell today at around 11am. I'd been up on thursday and friday all day, to clean all the seams and help Willy Semple (Pete_SRI's dad) get on with the welding.
First off was the fitting of the Harry Hockley style Strengthning plates, supplied by Chris Astley (cheers!). We were both very impressed with the kit, it fitted perfectly and was very easily welded in.
Now that the shells back I set about removing the steering rack and the complete suspension and axel, as I now need to prime all the areas to prevent them rusting before the shell go's to Dudley to get Dipped and E-coated.

Looks nice and neat. A Little sealer will cover most the welds when it gets painted :)

Also modifyed the rear arches, so i removed the rear springs and shocks, put the wheels as far in as they went, and trimmed the arches accordingly. Hopefully i can run it nice and low without any problems (not as low as the below pic lol)

can't wait to see the end product - not be long now......:)
Thats the plan mate. Hopefully Steven will leave the engine looking like new, so it will only be a matter of making sure everythings clean, painted/powdercoated when refitting. Hopefully i can source loads of stainless bolts to keep it all from rusting too.Quote:

Tiny update.
With Andy Bishop sorting out our intercoolers, its come to my attention that to enable us to get the most amount of room, we've all had to trim the front panel on our novas here:

Cant go past these spot welds and the lip.

And were done....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...2007/after.jpg
Well not quite. I still need to remove about 3mm off the lower panel too, but ran out of cutting discs (i only had one and its tiny)
An update when i get that sorted. Just under a month now until our trip to england to get it dipped :)
Keith
Looking good - keep it up!
