loving this car mate why have you not used a single washer tank off a poverty spec with no rear wiper it is smaller.
have you got rear wide arches or just the front wings ??
looking good by the way, any idea when it will be finished
Last night i repaired the rear brakes. Handbrake cables had snapped and wheel cylinders were leaking all over the shoes. So they was all replaced.
I've got slight problem with the N/S/F tie bar being very close to the gearbox (1/2 inch away). If i put a brick under the wheel it touches, Will sort this Sunday, i have made some 1'' spacers for the tiebar mounts so they sit lower.
As it is now sitting on 1 brick.

Jobs still to do-
Fit front brakes
Bleed brakes
Fit wheel spacers
Final check over of bolts etc.
Tracking (will borrow gauges from work)
MOT is booked for 16th Feb at work. Fingers crossed.
Nath
Can't remeber what it was off tbh. Got it from scrap yard. No rear wiper as it is a fibreglass boot.Quote:

Im liking the wide front end.
Strange bumper setup there to fit the wide wings. The grey colour is cool, looks just like the original finish :)
Not long before all mot'd now then :)

Today it passed its MOT. Get in!!!!!!!!!!!!
It went straight through with 1 advisory- No rear seats fitted. lol
First time i have driven it, Ive done about 30miles all together with no hitches. Just need to sort the wheel allignment out properly and set the camber/castor angles.
i haven't driven a nova for over 2 years. Forgot how awesome they are.
I will tax it on 1st March, I'm just waiting for my log book to come back after a slight problem with DVLA.
I will post some piccies up tomorrow if i get time.
Nath
How can that be an advisory lol
Nice one Nath, good to hear its almost 100% sorted.
Good skills Nath. Rekon you'll be coming along to Combe?
Don't think i'll be coming to combe mate. I'm proper skint because i'm getting married in May:eek:. I plan to do shows, trackdays etc after the wedding.Quote:

Brakes behind wheel look cool.

I modified my tie bar mounts for them to sit lower on the crossmember so that there is more clearance from the gearbox.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n1600/mjhv.jpg
Had some 20mm blocks cut out to mount under the mounts and used longer bolts to fit.
All fitted.

Nice clearance now away from the gearbox.

Ah what the hell-
It weighs 730kg (quater tank of fuel), well happy with that.
800kg with me in it.
Nice.
730kg is pretty light, especially with a xe.
Yeah, I said 791, then scroll back and saw you had fancy FG goodies such as wings, bumper, boot etc so changed it lol
Top bombing @ 730kg mate :thumb:
this is proper nice well done mate
Hey mate see it's going all good then on the car, and dam light weight too!
it's looking good now then, i want mine sorted asap now as my mates got his back on the road now and it's been mapped 191bhp from a 1.6 8v turbo! little bugger lol
Scott
Yeah, i'm really happy with that, i was expecting high 700's with the XE fitted. Just can't wait to get on a track, need to sort a few things first though.
nathan - never realised you were "up this way" lol

Small update, been doing a few bits and bobs over the last few weekends.
Firstly i fitted a fuel gauge to my alloy tank. I was constantly checking how much fuel i had left.
I used an the exsisting sender from my original nova tank, i just slightly modified the foat.
All fitted and wired
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...4062008084.jpg
Then I needed to fit some kind of filler neck, as i was also fed up of having to remove the boot lid everytime i needed fuel and fed up of people laughing at me on the petrol station forecort. LOL
I made a filler pipe of of some new exhaust pipe we had lying around. Then i had it powder coated to make it look abit neater.
All fitted
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...4062008083.jpg
And the flush aero fuel cap fitted to the O/S/R window.

Nice work :)
I Finally got hold of some coilovers a couple of week ago, TBH i was a bit pissed off because one of the adjusters had snapped. Sent it to Avo and they repaired it for me. Excellent service from Avo might i add, 1 day turn around. 3 days in total from me sending it and recieving it back. :thumb:
I also bought some 300lb springs from rally design, but was later dissapointed to find out both springs they sent me were odd spring rates. Oh well they're sorting it for me now.

How much did Avo charge?
£39 iirc inc postage back.
bloody good thread mate, youve done serious amounts of work.
impressed at all the custom stuff youve done, and fitted some hardcore brake calipers thatll throw u clean thru the windscreen everytime u stomp the pedal.
pmsl at u beeing fed up of people laughing at you in the petrol fourcourts. got a bunch questions while im here if u dont mind: was it easy enuff to chop all the metal out from under the bonnet and are the hinges and latch structurally sound like that ? youve inspired me to do the same, but i think ill add a few welds here and there to keep it together. and if its not too much hassle could u get me a couple of pics of your custom dash panels youve manufactured, im doing something similar like this myself, how have you got the fusebox mounted under there ? and any idea how much weight saving from adding the corsa cylinder & servo. youve done a top job of it all man :thumb:
I like this alot!
Watch out for something similar in a store near you...
what a nova
Thanks for the comments guys.
Jimbob-
The bonnet was easy to modify. It is a bit 'floppy' lol but does the job.
I'll get some more pics for you of the alloy dash panels at the weekend.
I have used the original fuse board and just screwed it to the shell.
By fitting the corsa brake system i'm not sure how much weight was saved, would have thought at least a couple of kg. I should of weighed it really but never thought. :thumb:
Here are a few pics from a tracking evening i did at donington with Adam-
