Electric Test Day!!
So a very positive day as I borrowed the battery from the corsa to test what I have fitted and repaired so far. Not everything like the headlights and front/side indicators are fitted so unable to test but so far these are the bits to fix:
Rear wiper relay clicking but not engaging the wiper motor
Front wipers dropping before wiping the screen
Rear fog light not switching on and switch not illuminating
Central locking relay clicking when motor engaged but not moving passenger solenoid.
Heater motor not switching on but switch illuminated

Picked this up today, looks better than the one I removed. Should just need the shoes replacing and a quick paint then it's closer to actually being on 4 wheels for the first time in 2 years.
Spent some time polishing up the rocker cover using a wire wheel and autosol (it was painted originally). This is the end result.

During this tho I had a freak accident and fractured my finger so has now slowed up the progress.

Spend a few hours the other night rebuilding the Weber. Got a full rebuild kit from fastroadcars plus re jetted to match my engine, worked out cheaper through their website rather than their eBay shop.

Also got the 1st coat of high temp blue paint on the block. With it being cold it's taken a while to dry, but so far happy with the colour. Much so il probably go back over the calipers as the hammerite didn't finish well.

Block looks lovely and clean really like the blue.
So things are having to slow up over the next month as I had to have surgery last Thursday on the finger I broke a few weeks back and my whole hand is in a cast.
It hasn't stopped me tho as I managed to get the original Porto blue pinstripe fitted to my front and rear bumpers. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a972adf0ae.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dd95982518.jpg
Have noticed a few of the clips that attach the bumper bar to the front bumper have seen better days and it keeps popping off, any suggestions on how to keep it in place?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
May sound a bit cow boy but fit the bar to the bumper then cut some small blocks of wood / plastic and wedge it in between the two parts of the clip . Works and wont pop off again . Nothing worse than the bumper un clipping all the time.
May be worth trying. I thought about cable ties but there's nothing really to attach it to on the bumper
Thanks to Robert (yellownovasr) he managed to sort out this SR exhaust manifold for a great price. Just requires some rubbing back, maybe a paint and il plan on smoothing the ports too.

Got this through yesterday as I needed a round tooth option pulley to match the 1.4 bottom end.

Gave it a little polish and now looks like this.

Looks good, tried using a drill attachment with the auto sol?
I used a drill with a wire wheel attachment first then the autosol. I'm not quiet at mirror finish yet but happy from where it was
Planning on not running a cover then? I always think they look better without!
Well I had all along but 1• it's finding one thats decent and 2• the cost of getting one as it's a 3 peice one on the 14nv, the way this build is going it's a low priority part.
Well I'm certainly no painter but pretty happy how it came out. Do have one patch which ran when applying lacquer but will attempt to fix.
The worry all along was the colour difference between the older car paint and this but on first glance it's quiet close considering the car hadn't been cleaned or polished since owning it.

So got a Bergen valve spring compressor tool to start on the head and it was just a nightmare, just couldn't get the upper cups to drop. I ended up using a U clamp which worked a treat. Hoping the correct tool will help get it put back together but not counting my chickens.
Also got a Dremel so can now make a start tidying up the head before fitting.

With the good weather today I reassembled the freshly painted axle along with new hoses and lines. With be picking up the cylinders and fitting kit at the end of the month then this is complete.

Serious progress now - looking like a car again
So more progress has happened.
Axle now 95% complete. Brakes on so just need new handbrake cables and then just to pack the rear bearings with grease.
Rear brake lines are on, just a few adjustments required. Not as straight as I wanted them but will do the job.
Gearbox cleaned up and new release bearing fitted. Also torqued up the mount so just waiting on replacement reverse switch.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7b36719166.jpg
Engine now off the stand and new clutch and pressure plate on. This is the closest it has got to actually being in the engine bay.

Now the engine is ready to go in and finish being built up, is it easier I fit the gearbox and lift it to the car or do it separately?
There is no crane available to do this so will be jacked up from below.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Go as one, i tried the 2 peice method when i didn't have a crane, and it was a ball ache. Peice of wood and a jack and your well away
With it being on axle stands I can lower the front so won't need far to travel. Cheers Charlie
No worries, defo the way forward. Looking forward to seeing it up and running now man!
Looks almost there now inside.

Expecting engine to go in on Saturday so I can finish building the front end up.
Just finished stone chipping the rear arches so now just needs under sealing and painting.

Fair getting on now!. Blue interior goes well with the rest of the car
Massive step forward with the interior in! When do you think she'll be ready??

So got the gearbox attached this afternoon. That was hard work doing that so not looking forward to putting it in tomorrow in this heat. Hopefully there’s 3 of us to do it. For some reason it looks small in the picture but it’s a tight squeeze around those tie rod arms!

We’re in!!

engine looks really good in the bay! that one different exhaust stud hurts my soul:confused::)
Haha a handful of studs where missing so only replaced the nuts that where missing too rather than buying all new.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fdb5a02337.jpg
As it stands after a few more hours of work.
All wired in too and all the dash lights up as it should.
Really only fuel lines in the bay and the breather to fit and the engine stuff is done. Still need a blower motor which is becoming hard to get tho.

Pmd
Just looks more like a car when the bumpers on.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fca9b681ea.jpg
Also now have the tank fitted and thanks to torquey I have the replacement blower motor in and working. Feels like I’m getting closer to the end now.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So continued on with this. Handbrake all connected and working, exhaust all fitted and front anti roll bar bolted on.
Front wheels have been jet washed and fitted with some new tyres, I decided on Avon zv7’s. Also at the same time got my SR steering wheel fitted.
Also picked up oil (thought I’d try the GM stuff, plus was only £13) coolant, gear oil and screen wash.
Anyone know somewhere that does a good price on brake fluid? Looking at Dot 4 5 litres?
