more goodies arrived today :d the ally for the dash panel and the rear window seals
started by cleaning around the windows and then cleaning the windows before fitting them
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0476.jpg
old skool glass FTW
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0477.jpg
i then got onto making the dash panel, i used abit of the card it came in to make a template before transferring that onto the ally
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0478.jpg
i also made a template for the boot floor, shortened my steering column and half way through making the mounting brackets. also started making the brake lines, fiddled with the suspension some more lol and general tinkering. im getting there slowly
keep it up mate..
Looking forward to seeing this :)
well being as im having to use the small rad i thought it best to make it as efficient as possible, yes this took a very long time (3 hours) and will probably make feck all difference but it looks better at least
****ed
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0479.jpg
fixed
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0481.jpg

Dude, wouldn't it have been easier to buy a new rad?
haha i cant belive you straighted the rad out you must have been bored.
Good skills with the Rad Burgo.
That old skool glass was from the year this car last went to PV I reckon. 2007? nice touch.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0502.jpg
engine bay looking more complete although rather dirty, that can be done whilst waiting in the cue though lol
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0501.jpg
rear brake lines done
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0509.jpg
boot floor and rear panel cut out
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0510.jpg
chassis legs all undersealed
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0513.jpg
trying to work out where the springs need chopping and then re-'pigtailing', sitting like this they still need to go down another 30mm for the car to sit level lol
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0511.jpg
for reference these are old saggy 60mm springs
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0512.jpg
now realistically for it to be at pv i have the following to complete
boot floor ally cut to shape and fitted
both doors need building back up
seat mounts finished
steering column mounts
gear linkage
hand brake
fit dash ally
fit all the front end panels and bumper
bleed brakes
finish wiring
then get the fooker running
well me brother has finished making me springs for me, they fit a treat and sit the car level now
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0522.jpg
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0521.jpg
they are only 3 inchs tall lol
this has it sitting here
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0520.jpg
and still got loads of suspension travel
plenty of clearence on the handbrake guide
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0523.jpg
angle of the beam is errr interesting
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...SAM_0524-1.jpg
with that sorted i started on the boot floor
cut to fit
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0525.jpg
i then put a bead of sealer all the way round and placed the panel in, then rivited at every 2 inches
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0526.jpg
and underneath
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0527.jpg
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0528.jpg
because of the natural bend of the floor it is actually very rigid and doesnt need any more bracing. to say im chuffed with it is an understatement and the huge space under there now is begging for a proper diffuser
with the success of the floor i moved onto the dash panel
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0529.jpg
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0530.jpg
looking sweet mate
shame mine isnt on the road id come give you a hand to get it finished
Polish the boot floor!
Beam is dirtyly low, springs are tiny. Love it.
i want you too do this too mine :D
hi burgo, could your brother make another set of those rear springs? if so then how much, damn i need some in my life :D
title edited for the truth :d
i have got update pics but they can wait until ive made some more progress.
it turns out when your sills are 100mm off the floor your gearbox rear mount and front chassis rails are only 50mm off the floor :s which means when i go down to the 14's ill only be 20-25mm from bottoming out!! far from ideal so gonna have to get my brain in gear and do some re-engineering lol
proof of lowness
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...SAM_0846-1.jpg
hahaha that is awesome lowness.
burgo they havnt gone they are in the bottom of a shed so i will put your name on them they will need new tyres
looking cool as fook pall good work
well it was almost finished but errrr

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0849.jpg
and
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0850.jpg
under going major surgery to run as low as i want to, starting with raising the steering rack
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/SAM_0851.jpg
more updates tomorrow :d
First 'Green' track car, powered flintstones style?
thought i would make a soapbox racer out of it, hence stripping all the weight :p
No floor! I have deja vu! Lol
good luck with this. To do it right the rears will need tubbing and new beam mounts fabricating higher up. The front will need the inner wings raised/tubbed and either turrets raised or some very expensive coilovers! The front suspension points will need raising (which will also help your clearance). Easy! Lol
if you need a hand cutting out anymore metal i'm happy to help. Gotton pretty good at it now!
already arranged to go and pick up some new turrets and bottom arm mounting points as mine has the strengthening kit on so might be a **** to get off. i already know the fronts will need tubbing lol probably cut them out tomorrow. i plan to not only move my turrets up but back by about an inch whilst im at it. the other thing i need to make is a new rear gearbox mount, should be fun.Quote:

instead of moving the beam mounts up im moving the the hub mounting points higher, although having said that i may do a mixture of both to give the diffuser more clearance.
another thing that occurred to me whilst looking at it earlier, raising the bottom arm mounting points will in effect be similar to lowering the tie rod mounting points, so hopefully ill get some of the same anti-dive characteristics, we shall see i guess
Mmmmmmmmmmm tubbing.
Why have you cut the front floor out?
