Aye it was a good find - I'd looked at it for a while but never thought anything of it
Needs very minimal work which is about complete already - Possibly going down the night to work on it and get the welding done and by with
Just need to try and sell some more stuff to fund it to save dipping into other cash lol
Paint it Polar white, fit all those Sport bits and DEFINATELY fit those funky Sport decals. You know you want to! No point having all those bits and not doing a full on replica. Who cares if it's not genuine or the right year? It's just a Nova shell at the end of the day, they're all identical!
Progress is looking good anyway fella :thumb:
I really like the Black one, just looks some how more sporty lol
All the welding is now done - Back panel is done, 2 back arches, 2 bits behind the back shocks
Just need to fill the arch joins and make it all look uniform then get it ready for paint
Keep thinking about red to save painting the front panel and engine bay as there absolutely spotless as it the inside...
Might build it up red 1st then paint it white in the future
tbh honest mate you have enough good parts to make a bloody good replica, its just a shell, i'd be going full on replice if it was me ;)
I'll wait and see how the money goes for a respray etc
To make a replica I need a tailgate and the sticker set and maybe the airbox...
Got the front end up in the air today and dropped the engine out and started to de-grease the engine bay:

that bay looks the nuts im realy gonna watch this thread closly
Need to prep the arches and get it ready for paint :)
Good work :) Don't rush it or you'll forget something and kick yourself.
Love the progress though ;)

Yeah but to red cars, how boring mate.. Do it black, lol i really love the idea of a black sport, did you use to play the original sp1 Ridge Racer? it had two cars, one was black devil, other was white angle lol
lol Can't remember that one mate
Seen a Nova Fling on eBay in red, nice and original - Making me want to keep mine red and I also had another look at Adrian's 8k mile Nova Fling
Nice new shiney red paint could be on the cards with the Sport engine and interior and badged as an Opel ;)
All this talk but one factor is missing,
£££££££££££££££££££££££££ £££
Enough said,
This project so far hasn't cost me anything really as all the stuff that's been done to it is stuff I've had in storage and free stuff...
Won't be painted until next year anyway
Still working away dressing up the back arches to get them ready for a coat of primer so there about ready for paint
Going to try and get the 1300 8v engine running with a standard carb I think 1st to make sure it runs then give it a mini-rebuild - Not going mega mega spec with this engine but I'll likely upgrade the cam and stick a full Eurorallye exhaust system on it with a 4-branch then paint it up with a red block and silver head etc and maybe try and source an Irmscher cam cover for it
Then the 40's will be next for a wee rebuild and service then fire them on to get it running with them :thumb:
I'll get some pics of the progress during the week
Thinking about body-colour underneath as well as this'll be a good weather/show car :)
this needs loads more pics vaughan ive got a feeling its gonna be up there with the greats :thumb:
I'll likely be in one day during the week - I'll try and find my digital camera and get pictures of the shells condition etc
Just taking my time with it now trying to make as little mistakes as possible - Learning something new every time I work on it :)
Should be nice once its done Vaughan.
But you always say a car is made to be abused...
I personally wouldn't too carried away with detail underneath, just redo rust protection well and waxoyl insides of chassis legs? You want to be able to give it the odd good hard staging without worrying about chipping paint off your floorpan!Quote:

I will be stretching the wee 1.3's legs though :thumb:
Been working away on the Nova again the day tidying up the back arches so there about ready for primer/paint - There looking tidy now, just another skim of filler and I reckon they'll be about there :)

Next time I'm there I'll finish off the arches and trim the arch lip accordingly so I can run my Speedlines on there nice and low without any problems, catching ever so slightly with 15's atm:

looking spot on good work will be ace.
Looking good dude, flatted them seal them arch lips.
good progress :thumb: im ****e when it comes to filling.
Tip, put it in thick and block it off/out.
looking good mate..:thumb:
Cheers everyone, going to trim the arch lip a wee bit so I can still have the arch lip but also clearance - Don't fancy folding them all the way up
Filler work doesn't bother me that much as I'm doing it at college anyway and it's practise for me
Cheers for the positive comments :)
