Personally can't see the point in non approved roll cages.

Never seen one, but the fact is a steel weld will be as strong, if not more than the metal itself. That is NOT the case with aluminium though, and the fact that if you rolled over it would bend significantly, or as mentioned, possibly snap at the weld and spear you or your mrs.Quote:

Wouldnt be much point as it'll be advertised as for off road and show use only.
You shoud say something to them as Ive never seen a roll cage welded like that before, maybe it was a reject or got damaged or something? or they had run out of decent lengths of tube.Quote:

The weld is the week point just like it is on a mountain bike frame even when made of steel. Hence why bike frames have butted tube so it is thicker at the welds.
