CG's rebuild thread. PROJECT COMPLETE

Fuel tank has been refinished over the weekend. Underside is Silver & the upper will be black. This is to contrast with the suspension & beam etc.
Also the brake transfer bar & the new Corsa servo should be in (place & mounted) by tonight.

Ive got new rubber tank hoses coming from Vauxhall & a new Walbro fuel pump too.

Oh forgot to mention. my Corsa GSi track rods should be here for the PAS rack to go on aswell. May have the engine in at the weekend if the servo placement & steering rack go on as planned. Rack will need the hole in the bulkhead enlarging & the Corsa track rods will need to be shortened in order to be the same 'track' as the existing set up.

Only just spotted this thread Craig. Ace work on the turret. Probably the best I've seen done so far. There's something very factory about them.

Reading your words on this thread and others I think we share very similar tastes when it comes to our cars.

Seriously tho. I think the hardest thing about building a car these days is that the standard is SO high and coming up with new original ideas is becoming more and more difficult.

Agreed... its hard to please a market thats seen pretty much everything.

After nearly scrapping this car & not wishing to waste anymore money, I'm quite happy to accept I will never build the Nova I really want & will just get on with the functional side of things & make a car I can be proud of that boasts the little touches & mods here & there but is essentially a good usable fast road/track day car.

I no longer have the patience nor interest to be flushing out body panels & worrying over minor scratches & seeing my face in the exhaust boxes.;)

Bit of a shame, as Ive had some cracking ideas over the years but have never really executed them.

I know what you mean. I'm not after concourse (sp?) or even stupid performance. All I'm after is around 250bhp of reliable power that can be smacked around a track all day without problems and a car that looks like it could have rolled off the factory line with the mods that have been done. And of course add a few little Simps touches to be different!

I think we're both on the right paths mate!
