For a serious build like keiths or bens, a few thousand is a drop in the ocean for a clean one that rust issues aren't going to be an issue. But it really would have to be like new for that money. The hassle it would take out of it would be worth it over buying a rough one. And at the end of the day, as others have said , no one was forced to pay X for it.
