Nice job, I wish I could get my workshop up to that kind of temperature.

Nice job, I wish I could get my workshop up to that kind of temperature.
Me too, I have to go outside to warm up!
It's been 4 degrees on site this week, the last thing I want to do when I get home is go into a freezing garage to do any car work or spend a weekend in the cold!!! This is the best solution.
Literally just ordered my air con, will be here Tuesday and installed Saturday.
Shell dropped back to Ben today for the final few bits, then it's off to paint. Hoping to have it with the guy in 3 weeks time
Build it goes very well, everythings done to a fantastically high standard.
Shame your worried about leaving the car there.
Surely its gotta be safe as it must be well safe as Ben must have alot of gear in there...
I'm not worried about leaving the car with Ben, his unit is perfectly safe.
I'm taking about the unit I use locally to me, that's the one that isn't safe.
We're trying to get everything done to the best of our abilities, I have some very specific instructions for the paint guy to follow.

Air con/heating prepped for the man to come and do his thing.
Air con/ Heated garage, how very posh lol:thumb:
Gotta heat it mate, cant spend all my life from October to March freezing!! It's bad enough on site, I'll not want to do any work on the car if it's freezing out there!!
Plus heating keeps the moisture and therefore rust away!! But it attracts the spiders cos they love the heat!! Potato Potato!!
Some progress. Aiming for paint in 2 weeks time

Doors are an amazing fit for fibreglass.
Are the doors hinged? Id be interested to see them in more detail if so.
As Colin said.
Yes they act like normal doors!! That was one of the pre-requisites when they were made, they had to look, fit and work like standard doors.
Ben's made me a set of the hinges to go onto my carbon doors. I'm hoping they will be lighter and better fitting than my current ones (cut off a standard Nova door).
House - a question for you..........
Did you think about modifying your front turrets to allow fitment of a slotted castor/camber adjustable top mount, rather like Jezz Francis has done on his Nova?
I'm looking into it for my car, but there's not a lot of room in a standard Nova turret. About 150mm maximum diameter available, when most of the top mounts available seem to be 160-175mm diameter.
Ben and I have just discussed this very thing mate. I'm looking at having a set of top mounts made up that are "under slung" (for want of a better description) so the top is flat and can sit up under the turret top and allow max adjustment.
It will still require some adaption to the hole through the middle of the turret but should be good enough to get all the angles we need.
I'll sort some pics once it's decided upon
Few little snaps from the end of this week

More to follow
Paint soon!
Engine bay looks really well thought out. :thumb:
Thanks mate
Tried to plan it so it makes sense.
Every item had 3 or 4 different possible locations and we tried to only do everything only once. Hate the idea of having to move stuff. We've been quite lucky hardly anything has had to be moved to fit something else.
So little update.
Paint booked for 7/5/19 and should be done and back by 28/5/19.
Ben has been putting the finishing touches to everything, including this chassis brace, which is a work of art
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e394494c5c.jpg
And this little cover plate/heel rest for the pedal box
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6ed159683e.jpg
Few more tiny bits and bobs to be buttoned up then off to paint.
Hoping to see a shakedown trackday at Brands mid-end of July.
Lovely work as usual, I would get Ben to put a footrest to the left of the clutch pedal while it’s there
Chassis brace looks brilliant, think there would definitely be a market for them.
Have you decided on a colour yet?
Nick
Christ that looks nice.
Love the bottom end bracing.

Manifold ready for Zircotec coating
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e000171b33.jpg
That's it now, the next time I see the car it will be in colour and ready for the engine to go in
Exciting times, this will be a real weapons when it's done.
Nick
Well,
The options are leave it as is, we all know that XE's in Novas suffer with heat so this doesn't work for me.
Exhaust heat wrap... not matter how hard I try with this, after a few months it just frays and ends up looking awful and it's itchier than a loft insulation duvet so doesn't work for me either.
That puts us onto Zircotec.
I discussed this with Tim at the Phirm and they use it on a lot of their big powered cars to keep temps down. I know it's harder than a coffin nail and they do it in black now, it used to only come in white, which was a nightmare as thumb prints wouldn't come off it.
They claim on their website to reduce a manifold temp from 1100c surface down to 700c so it seems to work.
I do know people that have cracked manifolds on turbo cars and can't clean the zircotec off to repair the manifold.
I'm gonna call them tomorrow and discuss options and time frames as I'm away from home for a few weeks so can't send it to them.
So with the shell off for paint I've got a lot of the bits back with me in the workshop.
Been sorting and prepping stuff now Ben doesn't need it for mock up
Managed to source a set of driveshafts
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9baaafbf2a.jpg
Now these I like!! Titanium bolts for crank sensor bracket, little dowty washers to seal, as the sump will run in a vacuum the washers should be plenty.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...154f9cfbba.jpg
And as I'm paranoid, lock wired in
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3931a7d573.jpg
Filter back plate also painted as I didn't want the aluminium oxidising and looking crap.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...98f0535d38.jpg
Got the special 510cc Pico injectors, sourced specifically for me by SBD, fitted and in, I also stripped and cleaned the throttle bodies, ensuring they went back together properly.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...95a3398a29.jpg
Got the tank painted and added some heat resistant matting to the underside of the tank, I'll be using the same stuff on the underside of the tunnel aswell to keep the exhaust heat from radiating into the car.

Stat housing cleaned, painted and assembled with 82 degree stat and brand new sensors in

I couldn't resist a little gear indicator test, displays gear oil temp too

A quick squirt of seam sealer and she's been dropped off with the painter.

Aiming for 3-4 weeks to get the shell back with the doors, boot and bonnet a week after, this should allow us to get the engine back in and build the car up, then just bolt the doors and bits on when they're back.
This is great news mate. Cant wait to see this all built up.
Thanks mate!!
Another step closer today, all stripped and inspected, as suspected it's never been used in anger.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f43949d878.jpg
Despite being sat upside down on the bench at Modus for nearly 18 months there's still loads of assembly lube stuck to everything!!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...711a5d2643.jpg
Belt and pulleys all off
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1cfe8bc61f.jpg
Pump on, had to cut a lug off the block for it to fit!!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...88c721d691.jpg
Had to modify this cover and make this little spacer for it to work properly
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a9c585b0ed.jpg
All stripped back ready for the crank seal and new belt to arrive from SBD in the morning
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f18f7e064c.jpg
Sump went on today

All safe and sound back home, only took me 2 years to pick it up after it was finished!!
