Happy to :) Chopping up the blue one for RWD gear? I'll be free in June if that's any good to you... half expect you to have some sort of mega machine finished before then if you're already planning though, you don't tend to hang around lol
With 3 kids and about 5 other cars to do it wont be finished anytime soon so some mincing in june would be good
Just remember I didnt bump this thread! lol

Hhhmmm.
Thought this had been cut up and scrapped lol
Sr20, defo a differant engine choice mind, when's the rb coming lol
Is that sat on a pallet or wheeled trolley? Lol
Ah. Needs cracking on with.
Feck get it done
So after a very long wait I am in my new unit complete with a level floor - yay! The engine and front subframe as you have seen has been removed from the donor, rear subframe next. I have spent this weekend offering the engine and box up to shell and seeing if a) its feasable and where it needs to sit and b) how I'm going to go about it!
a) Feasable? - It sure is! Fits in the bay a treat and gearstick should be in a great location to have the seat sit far back. I have plenty of room up front for a rad and decent cooler, probably without butchering the bumper! Depending on ground clearance of the subframe and shell the engine fits height wise to close the standard bonnet. Just depends how low I want to get it all whether i decide to run a scoop or not for clearance.
b) Method - Lots of head-scratching and staring this weekend but there is a plan of attack! I need to make up my chassis rails to hold the subframe mounts either side of the engine and it will hold the brackets that support the front tie rod mounts. Once bolted to the frame I can use these mounts to level the engine up and set on a jig of sorts. Next job is to get some tyres on the wheels I have - going 215/45R17 fronts and 235/40R17 rears, all 888s and with same diameter. I can then set the geometry how I want it. Then a case of placing the shell at the desired ride height!
So just a few pics to give you an idea...

Hopefully a month of updates to come as I plan on staying in the country! lol
Looking at the space you have for the rad etc we need to talk vital cooling aero mods :)
Now im impressed!
Don't praise him too much, he'll give up for another 2 years :p
:wtf:
OMG, looks sooooo sick! I love it and also got popcorn! :D
Got the rear end of the 200sx donor off tonight and removed front subframe from the engine. Put the rear subframe to where it "roughly" needs to sit and with the wheels I'm running it doesn't actually poke out too bad to be honest. Waiting for an order of box section to arrive now then can crack on getting it all lined up and subframes built into the cage/chassis. :thumb:
A few pics to keep you happy....

Loving this, mate. Proper drivetrain. :)
Doing those subframe bushes whilst it's so accessible? lol
Subframe looks like a proper bit of kit, guessing you build the frame around it.. Like the wheel choice, you'll be having a wider arch on there to cover then..lol
Great work.
Looking forward to seeing it attached to the car!
Awesome
Its the reason the 200 stuff made such good sense mate. You can buy rose-jointed adjustable kits for all those suspension arms for very little money for what they are and its a good handling setup. As you've said you build the frame around it. The subframe has 4 pickup points as you can make out in the pics, the frontwards mounts I plan to build into the bottom of the cage then the rears from the top and build from there. Hopefully will all make sense when I can start cracking on....
Me too mate! Been a long time getting to this point.
I wouldn't say it was awesome yet but hopefully will be!
Glad to see this is moving along Simps
I finished the chassis just as I was kicked out of my mates unit (not my fault) and it was transferred to my new unit, since then I haven't worked on it. However work on my Carlton's suspension bringing it up to touring car spec has yielded a greater understanding of geometry and add that to the poor weight distribution I decided to totally rethink my method of converting it.
I have the plan and bought the parts I need but have not done anything with it yet, the idea isn't a million miles from your setup though. PM if you want the details.
Piece of piss when you use a complete subframe ent it. Ive got a supra turbo set up
Be interested to know how you planning on doing that? Im trying to find someone to make me a jig from some giders
Doesn't poke out too far
Looks like miles to me! lol
Seats have arrived today, premature I know but they will help with mocking up.
