Stunning work as always Nick! Love it!
Following on from the previous age.........I also painted the extinguisher cradle too. then carefully added some clear vinyl round the cage to prevent the tie wraps from marking the cage paint etc. .........

Then trial fitted the extinguisher..........

Will foys silver nova I saw at billing last year had it mounted in this position which is where the idea came from. Looks cracking I think!
Still thinking about front caliper colour I asked the legendary Southie to do me a photoshop to save me hours of work........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1275127054
After seeing this I think Im going to stay with the red but do the lettering grey etc. cheers to southie again! On another note those who remember one of the first things I did to this car was to paint the horn push....... It did look pretty bland but I had an idea which I have now put into practice. The guy who sorted my vinyl knocked me up some stickers in dark grey in the same style lettering as the original vauxhall turbo tophat cover and steering wheel centres on the cav/calibra turbos which is where my idea came from etc. The horn push was rubbed down and sticker applied........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1275127403
Then I took it to work and cleared over the lot and later fitted it. The momo course lettering on the wheel has been touched in black as I felt it was too much with too many colours on the wheel. I am however pleased with the result........

Front and rear lights/indicators have also had a good machine up bringing them back to life.......

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1275129235
Lastly I also had Southie attempt me another photoshop for one of my crazy ideas! As per the sr's two tone scheme I thought maybe I could do the rocker cover two tone? Unfortunatly it didnt look as good as we hoped. It just shows not all my ideas work but you've got to try! crazy rocker cover photoshop below!.........

Some more work may be done in the future regarding the above but for this year the freshly painted yellow covers will be used etc.
Thanks for reading, comments welcome as always!
Nick.
That rocker PS is shockinglol Is the turbo cover painted or is that PS as well?
lol Was just a mad idea fella! Yes tophat cover is painted in the same grey with almost all the other bits in the bay Jeff. Regarding the Vents...... I can offer a little advice on them just drop me a pm.Quote:

Nick.
Just as an idea...
...why dont you paint the rocker cover in the grey that you have used, and paint the lettering in the yellow?
Awesome build so far mate, and im sure it will only get better!
As ever Nick yet more cracking ideas and details  Love the sill plates in the grey oh and that engine bay of yours looks far better in the Photoshop you wanted... not lol
Any time on the ps's :)
The tb cable needs fixing tho.
Liking the grey too.
Re the rocker cover, as we spoke about so the outer faces grey.. Like the sr bottoms would have...
I quite like the two tone rocker! lol
Looking amazing mate..

Continuing to look this thread keeps my desire for a Nova alive - keep it up !
Nick this is gorgeous and as always with you the attention to detail is amazing, have you not considered some clear vinyl over the rocker/plug covers to prevent chaffing from the throttle cable when you drive as they scuff badly dont they:cry:
Cheers Spud, That is an idea Ive not thought of tbh..... I have some clear vinyl so once the new covers are on I may give it a go. cheers! :)Quote:

I dont know were you guys get this perception that Im a little fussy! lolQuote:

Absolutley love this car. Great attention to detail :thumb:
lol With a bit of luck the daily maybe changing to a cooper s soon but it is the missus call as its her car. Would be a little less girly for me! however you know you have love for the streetka Spud!Quote:

Hey Guys,
A little update on what Ive been up to then as many were asking me yesterday at pvs! Its mainly just been finishing touches here and there were necessary. The majority of the work has been finished for some time however Im slowly putting all the loose ends together etc. Mark recently sorted me out with having some parts zinc plated some of which I used and some I thought were a little too much so didnt......
Wiper motor fittings on...........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276544059
Header and coil fixings.......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276544269
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276544290
I also had headlight/grill and wing bolts plated but as said I thought they looked a bit too much so I made a trip to parts at work. Anodised black fixings have been used on the grill and headlights were necessary for a neater more oem look.......

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276544429
The wing bolts have been neatly touched up instead of being replaced with zinc jobbies......

Nice neat yet subtle I feel. Another thing that I wasnt a fan of was the spare wheel well being an uber shiny mustard yellow underneath a grey bumper. If you look at the tv feature you'll see what I mean! The other weekend at work the car spent a few days on the lift at which time I cleaned and degreased the whole underside. brake/fuel lines were checked over/cleaned and the underside of the engine also got a wipe down were needed. I was surprised how exceptionally clean the car is under there with no issues what so ever! Anyhow I had a think regarding the wheel well and decided to dust a light coat of matt grey on it to tone things down etc. Heres how it looks now........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276544930
The whole of the underside was sprayed with clear waxoil including all cavitys inside the rear legs/behind sills etc. I chose clear as it shows the cleanliness of the underside and looks much neater than black shutz everywhere which in my opinion looks absolutely awful. When I have some free time next year I think the whole of the floorpan will end up matt grey too. The car now looks like this from the rear....... note uber clean exhaust too!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276545149
Once off the lift I got a couple of random but nice shots of the car......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276545244
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276545276
Finally decided that the calipers are staying red too!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276545353
My equal length driveshaft has arrived also. Looks very well made so big thanks to David dixon for that. I doubt it will be on before billing but its something that can be sorted once the car comes back off the road at the end of the year etc. ....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1276545505
And lastly a few pics of our new daily! The missus streetka as much as she loved it has given us nothing but grief for a good few months now so the decision was made to move it on. Ideally I saw a bmw being a wise move as a replacement due to parts/servicing being cheap when it all comes at staff rate etc. The missus has always liked mini's however I would have liked something with a little bit of poke so we went to look at a few cooper S's and ended up with this one.......

A 2002 cooper s in indi blue pearl with contrasting white roof/mirrors. I traced its history from new using our system at work to see everything its had servicing and warranty wise across the years. The schnitzer wheels have been on from new however will be replaced shortly with standard cooper s wheels Ive just won off ebay yesterday eves. Its an uber straight original car but does have a few little marks here and there but Im sure over this winter with the nova being practically finished it will give me something to tinker with! Thats all for now. cheers for reading!
Nick.
looks well nick
the mini looks cool to lol
Very nice as always Nick!!
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I love this Nova
cheers Adam, nice to see you again by the way!
Saloonmad,Southie....... cheers guys. :)
Nick.
The Nova is pretty much looking finshed now Nick. Love it!
Looks very very mint Nick,
think I would like it even more if it had the original Rainbow SR interior in it, not really a big fan of stripped out/buckets theme. After making it look so original on the exterior, the interior kinda looks out of place IMO.
Did you ever consider a standard interior ?
I would never be able to finish a car to this standard so it's not a critisism btw.
Edd.
Hi Edd and thanks! An interior was something I was looking for after having the partially stripped interior with the red one however as this one already had the front buckets and partially stripped rear I just decided to go with it as I felt it quite suited it. In a way it adds to the cars sleeper ish look and will make people look twice at the car when they see its not just a top sr example by whats under the bonnet and inside the car etc. One thing I am sure of is the next nova I own with have a full interior as I want to stick to my guns next time round. On another note once finished Im sure your sport will be an exceptional example.Quote:

Just on that subject, for me if I am going to spend any amount of time behind the wheel, I can't see the point in no stereo, heating, stripped out etc if it makes living with the car a chore.
I totally appreciate how the cage/buckets steers the theme of a car & how pansy a full interior will always look in comparison to harnesses & steel diagonals seen through polycarb sliders. :thumb:
Love the car Nick, looks mega :)
Can't wait to see it at Billing and have a chat with you again
Are you going to take Nick an apple for his lunch? lolQuote:
