Not a bad idea as I don't really like seeing the wires.
Cheers, I really can't wait to give it a good clean though. It looks horrible at the minute.

I'll sort the door cards out over the weekend, and I found your seat rail covers in the back of my Nova too
Dan has forgotten to mention quite a big detail...
Update this you gayer! x
Okay so big update, yesterday it went for MOT. Lewis from here kindly tested it for me and helped me set the head light up etc. Any way it passed once the headlight had been set up.

All in all it drives fairly well and seems to go pretty good to.
Today I set about the tail gate with the DA and a mop..
Poor photos I am afraid.

Right well I have a few more plans for her now. After using the new turbo set up I have noticed a few things. One its a little laggy but does pull very strong to around 5200 rpm and the other is the engine runs much cooler under hard driving. I am achieving 20 psi in 3rd 4th and 5th and the temperature gauge barely moves which is fantastic as it used to go sky high. My only issue is like I say it is a little laggy. I have since found out about a slighty smaller turbo I can directly fit on to my set up and try out. Should solve the problem, why I am there I can fix my slight oil leak from the return to. All in all I think it was worth trying and once I sort out the turbine A/r I think I will have a very lively little Nova, even now its fairly damn quick for what is.
I will keep you all updated once I manage to source a turbo. Next job for me is to clean it all up and finish the mopping and pretty much enjoy it :)
Dan
good good glad to see the boys are back on the road again now we need a png lincoln meet again
Good to see it done you should be very proud youve put some proper graft in to it

Well I have actually made my car stand out from the crowd now by adding the final finishing touches, what do you lot think?

Waxed the car today, then I took it for a spin and got a few photos.

She is now just about finished. I want to do the ode little job to get it 'right' but other than that I have done it :)
I intend to remove the front bumper and rad next week to investigate an oil like I have, and I also have a cleaner dash to fit some time. Wouldn't mind a new bumper to as mine has seen better days now.
Dan
Well I have done 800 miles in her now. A few problems have occurred since being on the road that I now intend to fix. Mainly being various leaks etc.
Well I knew I had a oil leak and a small water leak from the turbo so I investigated further.
I removed the rad and intercooler set up. One of the main plans was also to remake the exhaust and remove the intercooler. Main reason is its a little laggy and always has been with the intercooler set up on so as I have the pipe work etc I am going to risk running with out one to see if its any better.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...79340515_n.jpg
So I found a slight oil leak from the turbo return, and the rocker cover. Lovely job :) and a water leak for the bottom hose housing.
Then I set about removing the unwanted bits of exhaust that were simply getting in the way.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...74092376_n.jpg
Mocked up the new pipe set up.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...61429759_n.jpg
I then set about making it work.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...46331384_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...16826424_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...60927992_n.jpg
Perfect and there is a lot more space for the water/ oil pipes for the turbo now and I can still make the exhaust work relatively easy.
Cleaned and painted.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...50651863_n.jpg
and a quick polish of the other pipe.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...45470356_n.jpg
I will hopefully finish the exhaust tomorrow :)
Dan
remember the difference it made when you first fitted an intercooler though. I think this may be a backwards step. I think the lag may be down to an enormous turbo on a little diesel lol
SeXy Nova! :)
i ran mine with no cooler on a standerd 1.5td with white ing mod and boost controller and i was gettin heat soak on full boost so just watch it doesnt go pop pal
Looking good mate, keep up the good work !!
Iain
+rep
as I said last night it only made a difference because of how restricted the set up was.
Cheers :)
Thank you :)
I have experienced both with and without. With the standard 1.5 turbo it never needed one.. I don't care who says it does!
With the 1.7 turbo I only fitted one as the original 1.5 boost pipe wouldn't fit properly, there for extremely restricting it like I said to Lewis. When I then fitted the top mount which wasn't laggy at all everything was great even through it didn't work that great, I then made the front mount set up and had to make the pipes something like four foot longer which had a noticeable effect on the lag and dropped the boost pressure by 8 psi, Now I fitted the T25 turbo with the front mount the lag is still there, This is why I have removed it. It hasn't cost me a penny and worse case I could change it back but I do not think you really need them still because yes the I/C worked a bit but it still doesn't stop the heat soak from the engine on the manifold this is why I think its a waste of time. I predict overall it will be better but a little worse under prolonged thrashing. If I am wrong I will change it back.
Any way the turbo is now currently being rebuilt and today I have spent the morning sorting a couple of teething issues and polishing bits and bobs. Hopefully the turbo etc will be rebuilt and ready for a test next week.
Dan
Oh forgot to update the other day, the exhaust is now done.
Added this bit.

And the finished product.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...96829464_n.jpg
All I need to do now is wrap it again.
Dan
Looks great!
The front bumper will come back with a heat gun. (i did it on an early corsa b bumper that was so faded it was white, came back like new)
I will try it Gary. Thank you :)
How menny l reg novas was made you only see a few cum up now and again
Might be worth running a small intercooler like a standard C20LET one? iirc they are the same as the ones fitted on 1.7td
Looks Nice! Do you measure the performance when it's done?
i love this dan keep it up.
Rick
Not checked on this for a while, looking good chap! Good to see it's running.
I will have it on a dyno soon. It made 104bhp the other year. Hoping for 130bhp next year :)
Thanks pal :)
Thank, just wish I had the time to use it more. only been to work and and back in it really. May go out somewhere this weekend if its done :)
Well it is back together and works a treat, I have gained 5psi. It boosts 3psi more at 3000rpm, it is less laggy, and I have given it serious abuse the last few days and had no problems with heat sink. I can still touch my hand on the intake pipe and the inlet manifold is still as hot as before. So overall a very worth while mod :)
A couple of nearly finished pictures.
