Started fitting my blanking plate to the sump on the weekend only to have the thread pull out of one of the holes.. Ggrrr.

So picked up a helicoil set to repair it..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...umprefit10.jpg
Drilled it, tapped it..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sumprefit1.jpg
Knackered 2 coils putting them in wrong, (never fitted them before and it doesn't say which way they go)
Fitted, bolt does up nice and tight..

Said blanking plate. Never good for the price, altho it doesn't really buff up :(

Cracked on with get the sump on and sorted..
Modified Clet/Zlet pick up pipe, with new GM seal.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Sumprefit4.jpg
No the Zlet block and oil pump are all M8 bolts, so the sump needs drilling out to match..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...umprefit17.jpg
M8 fitted..lol

Drilling the baffle plate was very hard, as there are inserts where the bolts go thru, so they would just rip out when trying to drill. So i opened them up then just sat them in place with some sealant. Not the best but it will work as they are held in tight.
Gave all the bolts and quick buff to polish them up before fitting (they are all stainless)(not the best pic)

Everything fitted, as per the book, i put a line of RTV sealant over the oil pump and crank joins. Then around the m8 holes in the oil pump and on the gasket just in case cause of the above drilling.

Needs a clean up and wax.

Looks ok tho, Leaving it to dry while i finish building the head up.
So i started with this...

Rolled it over and after a good clean and check I bolted the head on.

My spare tappits have been soaking in cleaner for about a month.. Drained the cleaner out to find all this..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ebuildup14.jpg
Took them apart..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ebuildup15.jpg
You can see the dirt and stuff still in side..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ebuildup15.jpg
And the dirty still in the main part.. This is why you take them apart to clean them..(does by pushing my finger in the hole)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ebuildup13.jpg
Fitted them all...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nebuildup1.jpg
Gave my cams a good clean as they had got dusty.
New water pump fitted.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nebuildup2.jpg
Backing plate fitted, found this difference with where the plate screws on to the Zlet pump..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nebuildup3.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nebuildup4.jpg
So fixed that with... (even lined them up)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nebuildup6.jpg
Got the rollers fitted and cambelt backing things fitted.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nebuildup7.jpg
Removed and refitted the oil breather and dip stick pipe with a proper gasket.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...nebuildup8.jpg
Picked up some bits from the polishers to day..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...4042011470.jpg
That's the alt casing, dropped that and the cam belt cover off to be chromed.
This happened last week...

Off to the body shop.
Got most of the under side undersealed. But my dented chassis leg was a bit worse than i thought, so had this knocked up to day to fix the prob...

I'm lucky, i found a guy local that could do steel.. But most bits are alloy.. Was just gonna leave them polished, then remember there was another place.. Popped in and he can do alloy stuff, so have loads to take to him :)Quote:

That oil pump doesn't look like too much of a chore to fit too, awesome
