The new set up looks good! If you don't mind me asking are they expensive and do they fit well? Have you got any on car pics of the whole set up? Keep up the boundry pushing
Thanks for the comments everyone :)
Vaux Alot - I am sooooooo sorry! completely forgot to get you those measurements pal! I will get you them tomorrow with any luck.
This new setup fits nicely, my previous lower suspension setup will be for sale, with a polybushed inner, boxed off strengthened TCA, with rosejointed tiebars. All the new owner will need to buy is the front mounts :thumb:
Awesome setup :)
Cheers dude no problem, the new set up looks very simple and purposeful hope it works as well as it looks good, thats a pain i've just brought all the bits  just need to put them together, are the new control arms based on the old ones?Quote:

Bracing the cage to the pillars is as far as I would go if I was bothered about weight, Its not going to get the car any lighter by building a CDS climbing frame in thereQuote:

Only thing i will say is don't put it up a kerb because boxed arms eliminate what was before a cheap off the shelf item designed to bend in an extreme impact. That force now running those might mean the end of an entire front end.
I hear ya Si :thumb: Never actually thought of it that way.
Looking forward to a completely solid/ bushless front end now... nice and tight :)
I should have asked if the new ones were the same size and shape etc as the the original GM ones not the strengthened ones you got of JB if that makes any sense? :tard: Are the new ones made from one and a half inch box?Quote:

Basically, you have standard OE ones, then first set I got from JB, which are identical but with strengthening, then I have my new new ones, which are completely custom, slightly longer than OE ones to give me instant negative camber which is what I wanted
greetings from sunny spain olly!!!
Hope you had a good time in benidorm?
Loving the stuff getting ready for the nova, thinner poly carb windows and fibreglass bonnet and wings etc.Should look awesome.
Sorry ive not been in touch or anything but been busy then on holiday in spain(did i forget to mention that?!!).
I should be able to get round next week at some point for a gander at the new goodies for the nova if thats ok?Ill call you fisrt either way!!! BYE
Hiya Matt, yeah great time thanks!
Got my new rear polycarbs which are only 2mm thick, instead of my current 3mm thick to save some more weight yesterday, in preperation for my FG bonnet and boot.
Had a delivery today of my shares... shares in Grayston Bonnet pins lol
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0920.jpg
And another delivery from AG Motorsport
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0921.jpg
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0922.jpg
FG Bonnet weight
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0923.jpg
FG Tailgate weight, without polycarb in
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0924.jpg
Hinges already rivetted on
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0925.jpg
Will probably cut this inner panel out to reduce the weight further
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0927.jpg
Badda-bing, will be fitting them on Saturday
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...ure/nc0926.jpg
My plans with the car have changed slightly -
Negliable, but along with my new rear 3 polycarbs, I'll no longer run names on rear windows, and I'll be removing my white sprint door squares, seeing as the local sprints are over with for this season
I'll concentrate more on trackdays, until I have some friendly sprint competition (*ahem* LiquidPug, m17tty, nova ian, Paul205 *ahem*)
So it might even go back to sleeperish with absolutely no stickers on, and smooth sides
I've sold on the wide rear quarters and rear bumper, simply because I worked out it'd cost the best part of £1200 to wide track it properly, with new wheels, new new new lower wider front arms, widening beam, fitting, making it look nice, and spraying it etc... for absolutely zero gain.
I've kept hold of the front wide wings, just so I can fit them and see what I think they look like without wide rears, I know Oli has them like that (and I personally think it looks awesome) but different colours make things appear majorly different.
I've bought a bottle jack to widen the rears slightly, as I only need enough to fit a 3mm spacer, so going wide was a bit OTT for such a little amount of space needed.
Other than that, thats it for now... I've cancelled tomorrows trackday at Donington Park, in preperation for a somewhat more important event, TOTB, next weekend :)
Ta for reading :thumb:
4kg tailgate, jesus, light as fook lol
Good wee update mate
They staying white or they getting painted ?
Ad - 4kg is damn light isn't it, will remove the interior panel aswell, 2mm polycarb shouldn't weigh too much, and I'll be having a stick-on rear plate to reduce the weight even moreso :)
Vaughan - the panels will probably stay white, as I doubt I'll have time to spray them, but I might go and get some paint tomorrow, and get them sprayed up for fitting before TOTB, either way they'll be on the car, just unsure what colour yet lol
lol Nice one mate
Black bonnet and a body-colour tailgate, sweeeet !
eugh noooo not black bonnet.
If I'm going to the effort of spraying them at all, might aswell be bodycolour lol
i'l be at TOTB Olz, will come say hello seens as tho i missed ya at PV
I have been wondering what you where gonna go about fitting the kit..
That boot and bonnet are very nice light touches.
Smooove:cool:Quote:

Yup, I'm there purely for handling course, as my gearbox doesn't do me any favours in the 1/4 mile and top speed...
For our full 'TEAM VAUXHALL' team...
http://www.redlinemag.com/page/redli...otb_entry_list
We have Specky & GAZ'D who are capable of low 11sec quarters.
We have ChrisS which is capable of late 160mphs
Myself & Span are mainly there for handling
But obviously we have many more which are there to get points for our team :)
No reason why Olly won't do well at it, looking forward to seeing him suprise a few people :)
Cheers for returning my call last night Olz ;)
Martin - sound mate, make sure you come and say hello :)
Make sure you have scruffs on, so you can be an addition to our Team Vauxhall Pit Crew :thumb:
Specky and Gaz'd run high 11's, anyone with a turbo engine is capable of over 160mph as the team features some BIG power cars.Quote:

We are going up on Saturday and stopping over, however not in a tent lol

Sound, we'll be there from 4pm on Saturday.
Options were - travel up in the Nova, but then we have to camp in a tent, and thats just wrong
Secondly was to drive both the Nova & Jeep up, so we can pile all the bits in the Jeep, and sleep in it, but that means twice as much fuel
Thirdly, we're towing the nova :gay: and sleeping in the Jeep
i'l be there sometime sunday morning lookin rather hung over i should think, its my last nite of boozin and the like for 2months lol..Quote:

do you still have to run all 3 events though?also slightly off topic-when you fitted the adjustable tiebars could you tell the difference?
Nope, it's a kinda open pit arrangement, I'm going to spend all day on the handling circuit.
And should our team need any points, albeit coming 4th or 5th, I could possibly give the others a crack...
However, out of our team, I can categorically say that I will have the slowest quarter, and least top speed of 134mph.
And yes - great difference with the adjustable tie bars, just made everything so tight, and I'm looking forward to driving it again with the RJ'd inner TCAs as that will now make my suspension completely bushless :thumb:

Yes Specky did do a low 11 on slicks but tbh I think a few people would if they used the same tires, totb will be on treads and Specky and Gaz'd have only managed high 11's on treads ;) lol
meh, slicks or no slicks, i'l still beat em' in my Bobcat ;)
Look at who uploaded the video lol ;) :thumb:Quote:
