OK, last week was very, very hectic trying to get the Nova ready for PVS. Finally, at 9:30pm on Friday it was finished ready for the drive up at 9:00am on Saturday morning....
On Tuesday we set about getting the head gasket fitted and getting everything back together. I also spent a good few hours tidying up the engine bay wiring and wrapping most of it in fabric loom tape. I also fitted new exhaust manifold studs and nuts as well as some 8mm red silicone leads.
Once it was all back together we started it up to find that it was misfiring. Now, when putting the leads back on (the old ones which were on the car before the head gasket was done) we put them on the order everywhere says, 1-3-4-2. After moving them around a bit we managed to get it running without misfiring in the order 1-4-2-3. This is/was really weird and we have no idea why this is? (That's why in the pictures below you can see that one lead is tight and the other is really loose/too long.
After that was sorted, we noticed that the engine was lagging like it was when we first put the engine in. Because the fuel filter was at fault before I ordered one straight away. Once it arrived we got it fitted and that fixed that problem. I think the reason the fuel filter got clogged up again is because I let it run pretty dry on fuel so it must have sucked some **** up from the tank.
Once we knew everything was sorted and the car was running right we changed the oil as well as the filter.
I took the Nova for a quick drive and all was good. It was then ready for its 300 mile round trip to Santa Pod! I really wanted to take it down the strip on the Saturday but being as it had just had a new head gasket I just wanted to take it easy! There's always next year...
Here's some pictures of when I was getting it ready and on the stand at PVS...

Cheers guys! There's still a couple more bits to do before it perfect and hopefully they'll all be done before Billing.
Mazz, that's something I've been looking at for a while but I just don't have the money to spend on one at the moment. Having a look, I can get a 6 digit plate with my initials for £245 but at the moment I'd rather spend that money elsewhere!

Looked great! Looking forward to seeing it again at Billing!

No updates since PVS except cleaning it... Although I keep thinking about selling it and buying something RWD like an S13 180sx/200sx or an E30 BMW, but then when I get in the Nova and 'drive it' I fall in love with it again!
Today, I decided to test out my GoPro camera by attaching it the Nova on my way to the workshop. I haven't actually heard the car from outside so it was great to see what it sounded like. It's not as nice as my friends Corsa with a stainless system but it's still nice sounding, I even managed to get it to backfire a couple of times! :d
The video is currently being uploaded to YouTube so once it's done I'll post it on here.
Here's some pictures (artistic iPhone fail) of before and after cleaning it...

Since installing the single wiper i've never liked the use of a grommet in the hole where the other wiper should be as it just looked temporary.
I came up with an idea a couple of weeks ago to make use of the hole and make it look useful/needed so purchased a T pull cable and a battery cut off switch.
Today, whilst waiting for a couple of things I decided to give it a go and see if my plan 'worked'. I got a couple of very large repair washers and used them with the pull cable to achieve the below. At the moment it is not connected to anything but when I get some spare time, I'll install the cut off switch in the scuttle somewhere and connect the two together. I think it looks much better than a grommet and adds to the semi-motorsport theme.
