My Nova 16v Project

I'm not too sure how I'm going to fit it all yet.

I kinda just want to rivet it all on, and just leave the bare rivets and edges showing, ie proper rally car styliee, but I'm not sure whether I'll dig that look or not.

I suppose I can do that for starters, and if I do really not like the raw look, I can put a skim of fibreglass over the edge to blend it in.

My plan is to do this trackday coming up on Friday 18th, and then I have TOTB on Sunday 27th July.

I've now decided that it's then I'm going to take the car off the road for the rest of the year, as my insurance will be up, my MOT, and tax... so i'll do all the major changes from August, until its done.

That way, I'll have no deadlines, nor putting myself under pressure to get it finished before X trackday, which is what I usually do...

Now I've said that, i'll probably fit it next week and go from there lol

Really love the wide idea, and that photo shop is superb carry on the good work and get it done! This is going to be a real wepon, i'd love something similar.

Kit looks super dooper! Looks like a proper track weapon now though, no more stealthing around as a '1.2' :thumb:

I'm thinking of respraying my car, maybe white, as I love white novas

I know they're common - but really, champagne sucks ass man.

Reason being, is as now I've ordered my bonnet and tailgate, the only panels I won't need to spray are my doors, and roofskin, both of which I plan to replace in the not too far distant future for carbon and fibreglass panels...

So if I'm going to be changing the colour of my car, now is the time to do it...

I'll have a play on the ole' photoshop and see what I think...

And you could easily do a DIY jobbie, like you did for the engine bay, so wouldn;t cost much to do...

If your re-spraying it, I recon you should get some vinyl done at the same time. It's not going to be a sleeper any more, might as well shout about it ;)

Right then, Spent bloody ages doing this!! lol

First one: Put new rims on, and even went as far as photoshopping in new brakes as the old cessaro's had more spokes than these! Added a fibreglass bonnet with single support at front, and got rid of bonnet struts, removed side repeater and some other stuff I can't even remember!!

well... everyone knows my love from white/ black combos from my previous Nova...
massive thanks to nova ian again, photoshopping moreso with the wheels I want (lightweight rota slipstream), addition to my new panels (fg bonnet), and attention to detail here and there (removal of bonnet struts), new bumper/ pinstrip colour scheme... I think my mind is made up!

PS: my pinstrip is a little thinner lol (used Ians shop as a base though)

I love the wheels, they are a must!

Not really sure on the whole wide arch thing but if your taking the car off the road for x amount of months i would go the whole hog.

New inner arches to take the shape of the wider ones and remove as much metal as possible instead of just riveting over the top

I'd second that ^^^ get all the cage tagged in and do the FG roof/doors at the same time, then get it fully painted inside and out :thumb:

Agreed, i built up a Maxi Super 1600 GTi several years ago, the bodywork alone took some funking doing mind!

Looks very different with the wide arch kit.

I reckon it'd look awesome with a large flying chips logo on each door in yellow if painting the car white.

That should like a good way to do it.
Cut the lower parts of the quarters off,
Caged fully welded and added bars,
Then lash on the white..

I plan to cut the complete rear quarters out (window level and down)... so I don't understand whats being suggested? the rear inner arches will be extended out to meet the FG arch.

No point in adding bars to my cage, as it's just adding weight at no gain.

Carbon doors are only if Paul sells me them, and roof skin again, not a priority as I don't think there is alot of gain to be had, but every little helps

Going to be leaving the rivets exposed to start with, to see how it looks.

Just been doing some research on the front legs, I obviously need to elongate the top turret holes to the outer wings otherwise I won't be able to reduce the massive negative camber

Screw that idea unless the cage is coming out and a T45 cage is replacing it.

From what I'm aware Olly is still keeping this within a sensible budget and building it maxi style comes at a large cost, I'd love to see it done that way but essentially unless you have a shed load of cash to put into it I don't feel its needed for what Olz wants.

i found making a few tie points from the cage to the body work makes a nice difference. regardless of the cage being t45 or not....

This is about maximum castor you can expect to run, as a solid state without causing problems anywhere, and they don't catch the front wing on either lock

Slight occurance when you run the wheel so far forward is the driveshaft likes to caress the side of the oil filter (big cocks only)

These are very nice pieces of kit of very good quality, alot of potential and adjustment available, Just a shame vauxhall didn't take this into account when producing the xe's and put the oil filter out the way! waht were they playing at! lol
