Not a thing wrong with that IMO - Looks clean
Coing back to the meany greeny, ive been mulling over lots of engine options.
Buying a ready built monster XE was considered to save hassle (im soo bored of engine work now lol), but the problem with that is you never really know where its been, and i really don't want a hatrick of gut spillage next year.
I spent a day investigating the possibility of doing something different, aka a 2.2, but again, still lots to be developed on this engine, and id have to change my induction system which would run into ???'s
So, ive ended up deciding to do the only other alternative. Build another XE.
Dar called me today to inform me that my gasflowed cosscast head that was smacked by the errant piston on my first engine is easily repairable by one of his mates who happens to be a wizard with things like this, so thats the head sorted out in the next few weeks.
He also has a block and crank 'lying around' which ive bagsied. I plan to strip it down, have it dipped, re-honed and painted up, and then purchasing ONE piston to replace the mashed one from engine 1 (engines now being referred to in numbers as im losing track of the cast iron carnage that has been 2007 season lol)
New rings on the pistons and mated to some steel rods (no brainer LOL)
Do something to the crank, but not sure what yet as I need to speak to various people on the best option here
I have my set of Q420 cams sat in the barn doing nothing. I may reuse, but im probably going to sell them on or PX them for a set of Q450's for a bit more punch.
A lightened flywheel is definately a must, mated to a paddle clutch of sme description.
My target is 230bhp. Any more is a waste on a FWD track nova IMO.
I think done intelligently, I can do this build for under a grand, hopefully leaving enough winter budget to stretch to a nice SCCR cluster and the ever elusive LSD that ive been promising myself for 2 years!
EDIT: ps, a small block was not considered even for a nanosecond. Just wanted to make that clear lol
moving along nicely with RYJ...
mentalist power be then with the track car..
the new engine sounds good and i think next time out at combe they will give you a bag to put around the engine just incase it brakes again as i think they still have burnt hands from last time lol
3rd time lucky this time eh lol
just a polished ,lightened and , andbalanced crank should do the trick not much point in going for things like knife edged thats only for really trying to squeeze every last single horse out of it imo
PMSL, go on, you know you want to lolQuote:
