I'll take the scaff bar with me incase they need flaring more.
Had a day at Croft with Iain and Harv.

Lots of fun, despite me not having an LSD, was spinning the inside wheel out of corners, which was boring.
Decided before we do Cadwell that I needed my SCCR sorted.
Got down to the Phirm so the guys were on hand to help if I got stuck.
Using an F18 as a donor box got it apart

1st to 2nd syncro was knackered, so I dived into one of the other clusters we had in stock and sorted that.
In fairness the F18 was in really good shape, all the syncros that went back in were in great shape.
Built back up and ready to go back together with the layshaft and onto the half plate

Ready to drop back into the case, which was cleaned first

Built and ready to go, the LSD is still at TSV HQ so as Iain and I will install the box at his before Cadwell we'll throw the diff in then.

Just need to see if it works!!
Ahem, cable change :-)
Can’t wait to see this finished .
Just to add to the Croft update, House was rapid even without the diff. See my WIP for him in action!
The scaff bar was required on the rear as the rears touched and bent the arch lip down. The fronts caught too so we both hung off it and diy widened them which worked amazingly!

T'was good fun at Croft and the purple wing looked amazing in the sunshine ;)
Yeah need to decide on the new shell colour.
Inside, cage, underside, engine bay will all be done in that grey all the touring cars use.
Then outside...............
Thinking Red!!! Haha
In a change of plans, we're heading to Rockingham instead of Cadwell. We've heard Rocky is closing it's doors to become a supermarket trolley manufacturing plant, so we figured we'd better get some laps in. We've been before so should be good fun.
In other news, some shell prep work this week, steering column, pedal box mount, dry sump oil tank snuggly located, nice little mount for the fluid resoviours too. As always credit to Ben@Hanger30 for his exceptional work
SCCR installed, sound awful, which I'm told is normal

Also for anyone that's interested TSV now has a Facebook page. Just search "Team Shonky Vauxhall"
Ben's done a cracking job of that column and the other stuff. Red sounds good for the new one too, it's a good colour really and would go well with the grey. Get Ben to weld up that heater hole before he's finished with it!
Shell is looking good mate, recognise the dry sump idea! Although not likely to affect you but cutting the bulkhead has stopped me from complying with regs for one series
Rockingham on Monday.
Was a good day. No real problems, gearbox was decent but needs a longer 5th. Might be going in a different direction for the new shell.
I'm enjoying this. Honest

Nice little bit of heel toe there, We'll make a racing driver out of you one day!
Yeah thanks mate, I'm so glad the camera shows my feet now so I can see what I'm doing and where I'm lifting off.
I'm really bad at going from full throttle to hard on the brakes, I lift of slowly and apply the brakes progressively, instead of hard off and then hard on.
Few clear laps

Iain and I chasing the TT from another angle, watch from about 3.30 onwards

I wish I could heel toe like that.
As said on Iains thread, i do enjoy watching your videos. Keep them coming!
Plans continue for the new shell.
I was going for a stalk for indicators, dip/main beam and flash but we couldn't find anything that would work.
So I managed to find this on eBay.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e0787c5ebd.png
After studying as many photos of rally and touring cars I could find decided the cable should come out here
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fbb65a4fed.jpg
Added a screw together connector to allow complete removal of the wheel, however the cord is long enough that it'll reach up onto the cage hook.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7737e35bc5.jpg
Much better than a stalk, plus the guy that made it is a design engineer and he does odd carbon fibre bits and bobs for motorsport, he's currently designing my switch panel that will have all the buttons on for everything.
Love it.
Thanks mate.
Also got this in the post, decided against an oil/air cooler due to mounting issues trying to get it into fresh air, thought we'd give one of these laminova oil/water coolers a go.
There is space to fit a larger custom rad if need be, we'll see how the water temps are before we panic.

You will have no temp issues with the laminova mate , they work really well
Bit of porn, Ben has been doing a few little bits while we wait for a special surprise delivery.

very nice updates again!
if you use an Krontec quick release, you can delete the cable on the steering wheel ;)
are you gonna use an PDM for the rest of the electronics?
I'd already purchased the lifeline weld on quick release before the steering wheel button ideas came up so wasn't prepared to outlay £480 for the one with the wired connections.
I'm using this wiring module from CBS on the current car and will replicate that to the new shell.

Originally drawn using an ignition live rail at the top so I could get my head round it, they've been edited to take power from the relative number on the CBS module, the green numbers are where the connection is on the module
Haribo!!!!!

Feel free to touch yourselves.
How does one cable translate to a H pattern box? This makes no sense.
Is your new box sequential because if not that lever wont work...
Also realised I never treated everyone to pics of the new RS6!!
Here you go!!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...49f302c7ca.jpg
Now running 715bhp and 720ft/lb
Thats enough to pull you out of bed lol looks like a nice bit of kit mate
Few things happened today, went over to see Ben @ Hanger 30 and do a bit of mock up to make sure we’re gonna be happy with the sequential lever position.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e57d8cbcbf.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6a332acfc2.jpg
We moved the lever a little further forward after the pictures as it felt better coming off the wheel and onto the lever.
Also got some mock up for the wiring done, which I was most happy about

Not a bad view from behind the wheel

Also, we’ve been trying to work out a way of sorting the fuel tank and pump. I got hold of a brand new (eBay) tank but it was for a carb engine and doesn’t have the built in swirl/collector pot.
No problem, got hold of an injection tank, cut it open and relieved it off the swirl pot, level sensor/intake pipe and the roll over valve.
Pump feeds from here, level sensor plug, barb will be removed and replaced with a weld on AN-8 fitting.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...060705ef6b.jpg
Intake down into the swirl pot
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...304d8e4fff.jpg
Close up of the swirl pot.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3384207ac7.jpg
So fuel from the tank fills the pot via the little filter arrowed yellow.
It’s then drawn up the intake Green and into the pump, to the engine, the return comes back along the red hose and into the swirl pot where it creates a venturi that helps keep the intake surrounded by fuel.
The 2 blue pipes are both breathers, one is the tank breather the other is the breather to the filler neck
