It'll be your tracking being out mate. As you lower and move the car it all changes.
The stronge poundage will give a firm ride. Maybe you need to play around with the shock firmness settings too? I had too on mine.

Simps-Yeah the tracking is no doubt a mile out causing the steering issues. The dampers are set almost fully soft
Yeah must be. Forgot about that sorry.
Added you to msn as its easier.Quote:

Just thought id chuck them on, as im going big block asap.
Have some 300s, and 250s spare i could try.
Might be worth adjusting the damper setting and seeing if that helps then :)
I'd put the standard 250s back on to be honest and save the 313s for next time you're on track.
Right, had a play with the top mounts just after work. And set them to this position which should be pretty much no camber/castor.....

As even as i could get them within the turret.
And it drives miles better :wtf:
Steering wheel is still off slightly so the tracking needs doing, but it doesnt pull you across the road now, and it just feels like its driving miles straighter than it did before (doesnt feel like each wheel is fighting each other). Also noticed before, that the drivers wheel had a lot of neg camber with the mounts in the previous position (enough to easily see by eye), it now has none (that i can see by eye).
So i might just get the tracking setup now, and see what if any camber/castor its running, and leave it at that...... :wtf:
The lower your car is, the more it'll naturally toe OUT, just so you know :thumb:
this is really good, insperational infact, going to get some nova mincing done now :)
It didn't "look" any more towed out that it did previously. Its just the drivers wheel seemed to have much more neg camber than the passengers did, with the topmounts in there old position
They are a bit fiddly, and its al trial an error Ad, I had my old car set like you DID and the same things happened, so I set it to less camber (gained tire life) and it drove nice.
But for on track allot set them up with the added camber etc, but it just dose not feel to great on the roads.
My new cars set like so, and is not racked up yet and I won’t know its true characteristics till I do so
Pic of how mine are

I did have my top mount "nipples" machinde down slightly, and im running Leaders not AVO, not that tht should make much diff.
Scott
Cheers for the pics Scott.
How mine are set at the minute "feels" good on the road, and the handling definently seems more positive with these topmounts on.
So should be even better when i get it booked in for tracking, and hopefully will find out what camber etc it is actually running :)
Ive also booked a week off work, from 9th Feb to 13th, so the XE WILL be in that week :)
Will get the bay all cleaned up, welded and resprayed.
Will be running standard Motronic etc for now, so a standard engine bar a Irmscher powercap and SBD type A exhaust manifold. Should be good for about 155hp :)
Roll on summer and more track action
Im betting heavy rain from the 9th to the 12th, hailstorm on the 13th lol
Is everything ready for the xe now? Are you stitching the bay and respraying it in that week?
If its snowing/raining that week i will put a match and petrol to the car.......
Everythings been ready(i think) for the xe,since about November lol lol
Ive had the engine 5-6month.
No doubt when i fit it i'll find im missing a load of bits i never thought of,LOL
Yep, welding/spray the bay too. Got my big hammer for the alternator ready :)
Noo dont hammer it ! At least get a blow torch on it and hammer it that way, looks alot nicer
aye, know what you mean.. it must be sat on bumpstops too..? little-to-no travel left in the shockers..?Quote:

Benn-yup, i got a bit distracted with other things and here we are in Jan 09 lol lol
Plans over next few months are:-
-Xe in and bay tidied up
-Decide on a colour for my Comp Mo's and get them on (probably dark grey or white)
-Get the bumpers colour coded, with black stripe tape (aint 100% decided on colour coding yet though)
-Get the rear cage painted and in
-Try and tidy the rear arches as best i can
-Annihilate it on some track days/down pod :)
Im sure you might see more then 155bhp if the engines good/or recond, as mine pre TB's was re-ferbed and had powerflow system/power cap ITG filter RR'd @165bhp 158flbt Stealth in Southam www.stealthracing.co.uk
Scott
We'll see how it goes :)
This arrived today, genuine Irmscher Xe power cap, should save a bit of space in the bay. Bargain price too
Excuse the sh**e pic lol

Sounds like a plan. The only prob would be finding bumper strip tape in a dark grey, as it tends to only come in solid colours(white/red/black etc)
Definently going colour code though, as a change for '09 :)
Wont notice the stop chips as bad eh?? lol
Changing colour of the wheels as well?
Go to a local sign writers, ask them if you can rummage through their scraps, find some dark grey vinyl, cut it into strips, stick it on your bumper :thumb: .
Thats how I done my red strips, takes more time but looks fine. And yes I do things on the cheap if its feasible lol .
Paint the strip in the bumper, then mask it off and repaint them white..
Ive got a set of flat 15" Mo's which need repainting. So there going in a dark grey/anthracite colour.
The tyres on the cesaros atm are sha**ed though, but i mightjust chuck the new Toyos onto my spare set of silver cesaros for the time being.
I'm confused?? Why the powercap - thought you had some TBs?
I do lol
The tb's are for some other time when i spot some cheap management for sale! ;)
Coming on well mate.If you are at combe on the 21st i best keep an eye on you so you dont change are plates over lol.
I should be there mate.
Better keep tight hands on some of the bits on your car ;) lol
