i was just thinking the same simps :)
As we are coming close to the end of what for me has been a bank holiday of fine weather i thought i would share with you all what i've been up to.
After getting my sccr box back from being serviced i decided i would slip it in the engine bay so i could have a go at fitting my quaife shifter
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...rack1096-1.jpg
As i have raised the rack there is now a nice clear route through to the shifter turret on top of the box from the cabin
from here
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...rack1099-1.jpg
through and up
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...rack1098-1.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...rack1100-1.jpg
And this is how it sits now (as you can see its a bit DIY but those helicopter joints are funking expensive lol)
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller001.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller002.jpg
I used a very large rose joint i found and cut the threaded piece off it so i could tack it in to the bulk head
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller003.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller008.jpg
Here it is cabin side, it still needs finishing and tiding up obviously
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller011.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller017.jpg
To construct the shifter rod i used one helicopter joint i got with the shifter and then used two 1/2 inch U joints, a large rose joint and various bits of tubing. IMO it hasn't come out badly and shifts smoothly result!

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller016.jpg
No tight angles etc

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller019.jpg
Once i was finished ballsing around with that i turned my attention to my rear arches.
Can i say now i categorically hate filler (this hate doesn't help when trying to get it right) its a messy pain in the @rse job never the less so Mr camera stayed out of the dust until the end of the day. Although its a track car the arches needed some fettling as the FG looked truley w@nk, and would have probably boubled my air resistance lol
Anyway here are the finished results after i finished off the filler (the green is stopper a kind of fine filler for small scratches and blemishes for anyone who doesn't know)

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller025.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller027.jpg
Whilst waiting fo the filler to dry i did start perping the roof
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller030.jpg
And one from above just because
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller031.jpg
Once i was happy with the shape meany guide coats later i decided to lay on some high build primer to see what it looked like in paint, better than expected thank funk, this side is nearly there now with only a little finishing off needed!
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller033.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller034.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller035.jpg
While the N/S was drying and for a change of scenery lol i decided to attack the other side. I started off by finishing off the FG work needed
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller036.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller037.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller038.jpg
And tidied up some of the FG i had already applied then left it for tomorrow
I also thought i would share with you my cut down rear bumper (i know its at the front of the car now but its the only place i had to take a photo of it), basically i cut 6 ish inches off the bottom of the bumper and added some triangles to allow air flow job done and its super light :thumb:

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller044.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...hfiller039.jpg
The sides needed to be a little deeper so i could retain the original side clips

Filler work looks good, it is a **** of a job but worth it. You can get a stopper, which is more easy to work with and more (cant think of the word but less thick so it fills the small pin holes and such)
Arches do look awesome. Nice work.
Bumpers very cool!
The shifter?Quote:

I certainly know your pain! I glad that stopper product exits as the bodyshop is certainly going to need it in my case! lol
Good work as always chap.
woohoo, makes my progress look ****!!!
No the rear bumper is still the rear bumper - the front was the only place i had to take a photo of it lolQuote:

Cheers John, the linkage passes through the bulkhead as it starts to become the exhaust tunnel so it is surrounded by the rack mount and isn't a flat piece of metal so subsequently is stronger by form - so no it doesn't flex much :thumb:Quote:

Scott
Same as a nova Scott push down and across to the left - you can see the spring at the base of the shifter in some of the pics.
Small update for tonight as i managed to get a little done in the hour i had spare.
Firstly a ground back all the FG on the O/S rear wing to a more suitable level and to get the rough shape, then hit it with the first layer of filler, its taking shape nicely already.

And decided to get some pics of the rear bumper on the rear to avoid any more confusion (simps lol)

Will the back pannel to cut more to be hidden?
Arch looks quite stright in primer.
No benn i thought i would leave the back panel mangled and all miss shapen lol (it will be cut neatly ;)) The arch will do for what i want :thumb:Quote:
