I agree with Rick Benn, slot the hole to the gearbox. Once you have it in place you can always tack in some washers then weld round them.
Good work btw. Couldnt of been easy for you taking a grinder to your bay but I promise you, you wont regret it!

Daft question on the mount issue mate are you using a nova front engine rubber. the reason I ask is I was using the 10mm thicker corsa rubber and I had this problem when I was lining up the new mount for the F28.

THats a good point. I remember (long time ago now tho) when doing mine I ordered a nova one from autovaux but it was an astra one which they told me was the same but it isnt, it pertrudes more.
