Just to make it absolutely clear
This Sport will NEVER EVER be forsale
It will either rust to dust
Or it will be handled on in my will
Had a few messages asking so thought I'd clear it up lol
Wow, just spent last hour and half reading your story about the sport. What a dam good Restoration. Start date 4-5-10, up till yesterday keep it up Edd.
It was better than the soaps on TV.
Edd, let me know if you want to sell it..
Looking good, pop up soon!
Got the decals on

Humm.. I quite liked yours without lol
Yay stickers.
As said, looks frigging awesome!
All ready for the MOT in the morning
Drove it round the block many times
Feels terrible
Brakes shit
Idle shit
Some knocking noise from front
Fucking heap lol

None of that matters when you've got stickers.
Very true
Did you fit the decals your self edd?
Any tips
I've got lower and b post decals to fit on my SR very soon
Not looking forward to it
Yeah I did them myself
Sprayed water with fairy liquid in on the panel, and on the decals, then used a felt edge 3M squeegee, being wet you can get them where you want
I'd imagine using that method lower vinyl would be quite easy, getting the sport decals right with the arch flares was a ball ache lol
Any air bubbles
Thanks for the help
No, you won't with the wet method
Plenty videos on YouTube on how to do it
Looking forward to seeing the finished article.................
Pop back in 10 years then lol
It passed
Yay! I want to see at least 7 photos of it out on the road on the country side and such now.... Go enjoy it and remember why you built it.
Just giving it a mega clean up
Even with dust sheets it's mega dirty
But there is a LONG LONG list of things that need improving on
I'm not sure if I have oil pressure problems as well
On start up the oil light stays on for a few seconds, have to rev it up so it goes out
And on idle the needle sits quite low
My SR and Sport drop at tick over @ 1/2 way, goes to top of scale when engine revs are up
What oils in it?
10/40
What's quite low?
if you have a "shit Idle" it could be that the oil pump isn't fast enough to get the pressure up and the light out.
Been a bit of a up and down day tbh
Good points are
Mot'd
Brakes are OK now the rust has cleared off the discs
Done 80 miles
Found the knocking noise, caliper bolts needed doing up with a breaker bar and a scaffold pole lol
Bad points
Cannot get to the bottom of the idling problem :(
Reset the timing with a light,
Adjusted the linkage correctly
It will idle fine when it gets up to temperature on the spot
But when I drive it, it runs mega cool
Just above the blue line on the gauge
So when I come to a stop it has to get hot again to idle correctly
I'm thinking my alloy radiator maybe a problem?
Any ideas on this anyone?
This idling crap is really pissing me off now
Oh and a bolt fell out of my gear linkage
Few pictures of the day

I'm happy but still lots to do
Edd
Admire those pics and the niggles will soon be forgotten until another day....:thumb:
If it is OK when hot I just wonder if the idle control is working correctly, did you reposition the unit to the mechanical petrol pump on the cam housing?
PS.............. looks fantastic!
Icv is back in the original position
Alloys look well on the sport edd
Does it use a cts? Could be that as its bad when cold...
Glad you sorted the other bits.
Looks great with the decals on Edd - Keep your head up. Your one fault away from an almost perfect car :)
Looks well that mate.well done.
Thanks for the positive comments everyone
I'm going to get new genuine CTS and stat to see if that sorts the idle out
Really running out of ideas now with this problem????
I have most of the parts to do the turbo conversion ready to fit, just need to sort the fcuking idle out ffsA dirty engine bay pic
http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/DSC_0016.jpg
Corsa servo fitted
Coil moved so I can fit oil filter relocation kit in its place
Bonnet cable and loom round inner wing
Dry cell battery under passenger seat
I'm not at all happy with the engine bay one bit tbh, waiting for a brand new GM gearbox and the turbo stuff to get it as I want
I don't know if this is your problem, but many moons ago after having an engine rebuild, I had an air pocket in the coolant system. Every time it got to temp it then got really cold-hot cold then hot cold etc.... It took me ages to finally get rid of the air block. It seemed fine and the coolant level was constant. Drove me mad!
I drained the whole lot out and refilled a measured liquid amount which I knew was roughly what it should have been, minus what was left in the engine. Ie all pipes and radiator were took off, replaced and refilled.
tidy car.....have you got a decal for the tailgate? Or have you not got round to fitting it yet?
I don't think I have a air lock, will double check when I change the thermostat
I do have a tailgate decal, when I get the roof and quarter painted I'm going to get my other tailgate painted and fit a different rear spoiler and put the decal on then
Just had a scroll through your thread here and what an absolute cracker! :thumb: Always think I'm looking at a hologram with those decals - looks the bizz fella, excellent job!
Best,
Tony
Cheers
Forgot to mention that the Corsa epas is working perfectly with the AK 15imp transducer
Full assistance when stationary, gradually reduces till minimal resistance at 40mph
Really happy with it
Any photos of what you did with the top get to the lock/barrel and bits right?
