Looking at the pics it seems the bodyshop have just done the usual, used loads of gravitex on the underside and blasted loads of paint over it.

:( hence why i always do all the work myself. i just cant trust someone to do it to my standard
most people hate working on older cars, and then they start doing stuff like that.
I just don't understand why you did not remove the underseal before getting the car painted :confused::confused:, it's one of the most important things to do with old cars. And tbh, painting over the old sealer is really :tard::tard::eek::eek:
My Spider had the same holes in the floor, sh*** Irmscher construction :mad:
nice work mate shame about the rot see you on the 6th
WOW..
Mark Ive read right through the thread, i had not seen this so didn't know you had bought another spider, fair play to you after the going ons with your last few..
Was about to say that it looked really well done from the body shop...untill i read on, thats a bit shocking really, i cant believe they didn't strip the sealer off and do the rot in the floor, ah well least your onto it now eh.
Scott
Small update, car will be painted with in 2 weeks!! so all should be on track still
Yes, Hurry up I might need the roll over jig back for another project:D
this is a stunning bit of work! Really impressed with whats been done so far and envy you for owning a realy rare nova!
I'd go mental at the body shop especially if I'd paid for that and they covered it over...
Cant wait to see the next bit...
Don't know how i got on this old thread. Is there any updates sorry for the post.
I was thinking the same

I'd like to see this too
I've never even seen this  lol I like it... alot
Well small update! I looked at it today and thought yep............... Its still here!!
On a more serious note about it, I have gathered a few parts over the last year I will be using, got a mint set of early door mouldings for it also got a bit of motivation doing the sport.
I will be doing the floor on it in the coming months then the car will be built up and completed and then I can see what parts have been used on the other projects I've built since starting this (2 sports, 2 mk2 GSI reps) and then whats missing I need to find and replace. Then once I know what is missing I will strip it back down and sort out items for plating, painting, or powder coating etc. The it'll be time to crack on and build it!
I will get some pics in the next couple of weeks of how it sits now. If anyone is stripping a shell and scrapping it anytime soon with a good floor that they'd like to donate then i'd be a major help to get it underway.
Billing 2011? Maybe!
What's up with the floor ?
Floor pan or boot floor ?
Boot floor? Mine is solid, the erm, other floor is also solid but has a bit of a bend in the drivers side, lemme know if you want it, although it's a long way to travel, depends how desperate you are!Quote:

The floor pan has rusted badly, basicly where they welded in the extra suport for the chassis it melted away the underseal and it was never replaced, hence bad rust on the floor. You can see the state of the chassis supports in page 2 or 3 I think in this thread, and what it has caused can be seen here

Thats basicly where the project has gone on hold back in 2008 and took a back seat. Split from my wife back end of 2008/early2009 so it wasn't a priority for me. Doing Paul's sport has given me the inspiration to carry on and start again where I left off.
Being for me and ultimatley it will be kept for years to come and for my son to enjoy in time so I want it to be done right and then it will last another 25 years so there is no rush as to when it will be done.
He will also have this to enjoy (110cc) until he can drive the real thing,

They were only ever available from Irmscher Uk, It is also in need of a mini restoration as the lights should work along with a radio etc. I know of 3 in existence (mine, Irmscher Germany have one and Russ Swift's son) I also know of the possible location of another 1 maybe 2 but I have never had the time or money to try and track them down, but 2 people have mentioned the strong possibility of them being there.
One thing that has impressed me looking back at this... Is how tidy my garage was back in 2008!!

Oh and I've also build a mk2 SRI since starting this so thats 5 projects!
Isnt that tidy now!!!lollollollolQuote:

Nope, it isn't wrong at all... Hadn't crossed my mind tbh, but hmmmm.....Quote:

Mainly small sections but using an acctual floor I am hoping that it will save time and we won't have to shape metal etc. I have also been sorting the garage out and I can now get moved around the thing so all in good time it will get done (Only taken about 5 years so far!)
Hurry up, I'll need the roll over jig.....................
Eventuallylol
Its been "balanced" on that thing for nealr 3 years!!Quote:
