using the original floor would be harder i think, as you`d have to make mounting brackets up for, axle, suspention, engine , gearbox etc.........
also cut the floor to put a tunnel in...... using the sierra floor you have everything already there..........

Just as fraser says once the sierra floor is in then 90% of the drive train is bolt on stuff alot easier this way. Well i think so

Right a small update

I have the sierra all stripped down now to just the floor and the rear section trimmed and ready to be fitted tomorrow this is the long slow bit so wont see much progres pics up till the floor is fully in. Just now im aiming for the end of the week for that :D

You got any pics of the sierra stripped apart?

my mate has been banging on about doing this for years but has never got round to it, he'll be gutted to find out youve beat him to it lol bless him, fair play though mate, criminal offence on that poor cossie though, will be watching this thread and hoping to see a top result :thumb:

I havnt cut the floor out of my escort cossie thats worth to much i just bought a old 3 door sierra shell that turned out to be a minter :D and have cut that to do it.

Got the rear end of the floor tacked in place today never got any pics the phone went flat so you will have to wait till the weekend for them cause its back to work tomorrow :(

RESPECT to you C7LJN only takes one then others follow. just make this a good wip to aid others in there build.

Correct but the floors are almost the same as 4x4 the 4x4 floor has a extra groove in the gearbox tunnel to allow the center diff of the gearbox to sit right up in the tunnel.
And the front chassis legs have a small half moon shape cut out the lower side to stop the drive shaft from catching under full suspension load

I done all this befor when i converted my last 3 door to accept 4x4 drive train

No full floor is requierd

Na mate im not showing of im stripping my escos they make good money that way and i also wanted to keep my running gear for a project

Im not really a ford man i just like the cosworth YB engine. Ive had 3 doors saph`s and the escort and yes they can be fast but everyone expects them to be and I dont like that. I prefer to have a bit of a sleeper and i like my vauxhalls i just left vauxhall there I was with them for 4 years as a tech. Im with toyota now its a bit dull but money is good so it helps do stuff like thislol lol

This project sounds brilliant mate, what sierra did you cut up for the floor pan then? couldnt you have just cut the floor out of a normal sierra? not sure myself? cant wait to get my nova going again, i've been running arround in an old 1.8td escort while i'm rebuilding mine and it's been nothing but trouble, the clutch arm's snapped, the central locking dont work properley, the boot release dont work and the cambelt was a right pig to change and the sump plug instantly rounded off when i attempted to take it out, the list goes on and on, give me a vauxhall any day!!FORD- Fix Or Repair Daily, lol.

I used a 3 door sierra shell but any sierra shell would do the trick all the shells are the same strenth wise 1.6 same as 2.0 cosworth so its good in that respect

And i will agree with you there im not really a fan of fords i prefer the vauxhalls from general servicing, belt changes to engine conversions vauxhalls are better and easier to do hehehe

Im working half day tomorrow then its time to get on with the nova so will try get some pics up its been a while

Right folk ive not put up a pic for a while so i took a fue today. As you can see from the pic the rear of the floor is in and the other pic was the front floor getting trimmed to size before it was fitted up in place tonight should get more done to it tomorrow after work (fingers crossed)lol

Cheers. Its not to a hard job (well i dont think so) it just seams very out the box for someone that hasnt heard of this getting done before. Its quite popular with the ford boys so they can cossie the mk3 mk4 escorts etc etc
