Following the carbon theme I had another idea and borrowed a vin tag from matthew172 cheers mate! Bought a 2*2 twill plate from ebay and had it cut to size/shape....

Then I prepared it and gave it a coat of lacqeur......

Although the pic doesnt show it this enhanced the carbon weave. Once dry I took it to my local printers and they added my text to it...

Not the best pic but you get the idea.... Lastly I relacqeured the tag to seal in all the lettering etc this way it will never come off when cleaning etc.
Final result......

Nice one nice, My car is also painted rosso corsa btw..
You keeping the nova now then?
nice one nick,, bee good too se it again
On to the exterior then...
I was almost happy with this however one thing I wanted to change was the exhaust which I bought (earlier in the thread) and is currently being fitted. Also after seeing a thread by Mark ridley (novacabrio) stating he had some Raceline RL7's for sale I started getting Ideas! After a certain month or so thinking about it I finally got in touch with him and he met me at the Jov rr day a few months back with my new wheels! cheers Mark! No time was wasted and I got straight on with them...
How we started...
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214508907
As the tyres has almost had it I just had the beads broken front and rear this allows you to paint the inside and outside at the same time after the tyre is taped up rather than doing the inside followed by the outside which is how I used to do them.
After a little rubbing...
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214509160
Masked up....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214509190
And all prepared in the booth ready for paint......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214509312
All painted up......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214509546
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214509623
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214509642
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214509666
Although my intension was always to paint them black to suit my cars theme etc I think they look so much better than when they are white.
As the cars now going to be on 15" rims I didnt want it to look like there was huge amounts of space between the tyre and the arches so I purchased this setup from Martin Kelson at pv. (Cheers fella!) This If needs be will sort the rear out and I will just wind down the ledas at the front to suit...
Short bodied Avo's with 100mm springs....

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214510009
The centres for the RL7's were looking rather awful so I treated them to a bath in some paint stripper!.......

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214510446
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214510270
They came out looking like this.....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214510371
Then they were prepared and lined up to paint....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214510555
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214510575
We'll see how they've come out soon!
Another new purchase was some new poly's to go with the new exhaust....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214510698
There was only one part that came back from the chromers that I wasnt happy with which was the wiper motor backing plate... I thought the marks may be covered but after offering it up Ive found they are not! So to plan B!
Got another part and stripped it then prepared it for some paint...
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214510863
Mounted up ready for paint....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214511057
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214511096
And lastly painted up......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214511197
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214511197
Getting better and better!
Loving the new wheel choice, awesome rims
Back to the interior then.....
Earlier in the thread you may remember me saying I had some special parts on the way? Well after speaking to Don Fulford a few months ago I decided to let him give some of my dash surrounds,A pillar covers and a few other items the carbon treatment... I was hoping these would turn out as good as the carbon steering shroud I have which was also done by him. And guess what I wasnt dissapointed! ...............
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214511778

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214511875
I dont even need to work on these parts to make them look proper as his work is awesome! Even though they cost a small fortune Im really happy with them So a big thanks to Don for these and one or two other bits hes also done for me... But I will save them for the next update!
Thanks Adam, mike, martin etc for the comments more to come over the weekend! :)
nice work
thats some asweome paint stripper aswell, what is it ?
Thanks fella..... IIRC its just a basic but very nasty stripper we get from the local ae motor colours nothing flash at all but it does the job very quickly!Quote:

Not been paying much attention to this lately, don't know why.
Just gone through a couple of the last few pages and the work you have done and had done is quality!
Keep it up can't wait to see then end.
Update time....... Full new exhaust system is now fitted along with freshly heatwrapped manifold, Goodridge braided flexis and a new servo have gone on too as my the pedal has never felt as good when I swapped to the 288's and V6 calipers from the standard 16v brakes, We thought the servo may have been to blame so I sourced another got it painted and fitted and Now I must say the pedal does feel much better whether thats just the flexis or the servo Im unsure but as said the brakes are much better so jobs a good one!
Exhaust.....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214775143
New wiper motor and backplate all fitted up... notice chrome fittings!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214775345
And another small item I had made by Clive @ Custom solutions... I asked for a plain cap (no griffin) and no inscribing to go for a cleaner look etc, Im really pleased with it and it hides the motor by having it at the rear top stuff....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214775388
One Fuel reg/filter and body coloured bracket all fitted back up......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214775664
New exhaust looks great, much better mate! Also love the little touches so far :)
I must also apologise to the N easts chaps today as I did say I was going to there meet however realising Billing is fast approaching I thought I must press on and spend some more time on the nova etc...
New Magnecore leads and the Black dizzy cap I painted up a while ago replace the K1 leads and the old orange cap....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214776172
Chrome bonnet bolts have also replaced the bodycoloured items...
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214776252
Another part that always bugged me was the carb linkage as It would never clean up no matter what I did! So I sourced a new genuine weber LP1000 item, Much better!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214776340
Awesome :)
Awsome attention to detail mate
Have you any recent outside pics of the car? :)
On to the Inside then........
Flocked C pillar trims fitted...
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214776629
Flocked B pillar trims also fitted......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214776872
And Carbon boot panel also fitted although the fit is not over brilliant due to the carbon piece being flat and not curved like the original cover but as you dont see too much of It I'll be leaving it on for now anyhow! Notice chrome boot latch getting into the shot too!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214777100
Back to the bay then...
I was unsure how the carbon cambelt cover would go with the chrome rocker cover so I had another belt cover chromed and have opted to use this for now, Although now there is a fair amount of shineyness under the bonnet and If Im honest I think there may be too much! So I may go back to the bodycoloured camcover at a later date etc, Ive tried to use a contrast of everything really.... colour, chrome and carbon (few bits to add yet) but heres how the bay looks now, Let me know what your personal opinions are please! Heres how it looks at the moment... Note chrome bonnet stay and self tappers too!........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214777367
Looks about perfect mate
Aslong as your not scared to give it a good thrashing ?
Lastly for this evening Is a few shots of something I know you'll have probably been waiting for being the wheels! Sadly the weather was starting to turn so before the car was put away I took a few pics just to give you a quick insight to how they look etc....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214777957
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1214778198
The hub caps and stickers are missing at the mo due to me being undecided on the colour scheme... I painted the hub caps grey to go with grey raceline stickers I had made up but now Im thinking hub caps maybe best black and then I also have a choice of matt black stickers which I also had made up but then everything maybe tooooo black! decisions decisions! Better wheel pics to follow within the next few days etc.
Hope you like whats been done so far, I also want to say a big thanks to the guys at autohaus diagnostics who have done a great job on the exhaust, brakes etc over the past week and to my friendly panel beater from work who gave me a hand today to get some more bits done, cheers! :)
Looks rubbish - start again.
lol oj.
Looks amazingly clean and shiny!
Cheers mate... The rolled 4" tip has always been a favourite of mine on a nova etc!Quote:
