I got them from a place near me. About ?10 a joint. I find that if you ever need stuff that seems too expensive from places like Demon Tweeks, just ask around. You end up going to a few places in industrial estates(These guys know each other well and can point you in the right direction) but you usually find a place that can supply you with the same bits at a fraction of the cost.
ah right nice one, will defo be doing that when i get a job lol you'll no doubt see a thread by me needing help lol
good work mate!
Top stuff on that linkage there.
Very nice.
Nice guide that, can you use the cav linkage from any cav? as in does it matter if its off an 8v or does it need to be a 16v if your using the linkage for an xe??
Also I assume that if you are using the cav linkage for an xe will reverse be the same as in the cav, as in lift the collar and towrds you and back (as in where 6th would be)
and one last q, Will I have an F20 box on the xe, its from a mk2 astra gte.
Cheers
Ian
Any cav.
Think mk3 astras and corsa's have the same internal linkage too.
that is sweet !!!! if you fancy makeing me one let me know !! dar keep up the good work
Yeah any Cav will do.
Reverse is in the same place as a Nova and also the Cav which I always thought was lift the collar, to the left and forward.
To check what box it is look at the casing by the gear selector on the box, its stamped there in big letters.
You are probably right about reverse posisition actually, Just I went in my mates cav last night and noticed his reverse was where I said, but its a v6 so probably has a different box to all the other variants of cavs.Quote:

If I charge someone for making one up and it keeps undoing itself then all im going to get is problems. Not only this but they don't fit straight on first go(well my first one didn't) so you may need to play with them to get it to work 100% perfectly.Quote:

Hmmm... Clunky! :D
Nice one Dar, definately on my list of things to do.
Confused !!! Your car is using a cav gear stick and the shortened (3 inch) cav rod. Is the actual linkage nova or cav tho !?! It sounds like its a cav linkage, which has got me worried cause i only got a nova one for my car !!!
Don't worry it is the Nova linkage.
Good good ;)
Superb guide, so much easier with a few pics, cheers DAR.
I found a clash between the gearbox mount spacer bracket and the box section part of the linkage when I fitted mine, I'll definately be doing that mod.
Dave.
dabsy - There is a clash with the linkage and the gearbox casing, but its only by a few mm and you can grind off the extra few mm from the nut on the linkage.
Teeny weeny update. I've been struggling with trying to put wheels on the car for years. In a nutshell, because I run spacers the wheel will not stay on the car if you place it on. So to get each wheel on you either have to use both hands and one foot or lower the car so that the wheel sits on the ground and lines up with the bolt holes. Then nova---chris mentioned about a stud conversion. My ears instantly perked up and the said conversion was purchased about 30mins later.
Just finished my spanner check of the car from its last track day and so I have put the stud conversion on. Ahhh its bliss being able to put the wheels on in a normal fashion again.

top job bud. Iwondered why you were being quiet yesterday.
A teeny weeny update. I decided to check my throttle bodies again. The last time I set them up I was really just guessing. However after going to a few rolling road sessions and watching the guys setup a mates XE powered single seater I gained some nice pointers:thumb:
Anyone who has heard my car idle will probably know that its a bit oddlol I've buzzed the thing a few times and the last time I did it no four cylinder sounded odd:eek: I thought bugger I've broken something there, but heyho it still works (Best leave it alone).
So today I check all the TB's and match them up. No four was wayyyyyy out only pulling in 3/5 of the air that the others were. A little tweek and hey presto cured. So i've been running a fair while with the car quite a way out of tune on No:4:roll: anyway setup the rest of it and its sooo much better now. So im hoping it will go even better at the next meet.
I do love using the laptop to setup the car:cool:
