Rah, dont know what to do,Lol.
a mate of mine had a black sri with white cesaro's on, lowered 60mm and it looked VERY tasty, i then spent the next 6 months trying to persuade him to sell it me before he crashed it
Any pics?
i personally dont have any mate but ill speak to him over the weekend and ask him for :thumb:
Hmmm

Gloss white paint is megacheap to buy too,Lol.
looks like a rolling tub of vanilla ice cream with that much white lol
Lol, might just finish the other two in grey then.
Can't decide what to do now, both colours have there good and bad points.
Got the T40 alternator bracket welded up today, local Mini place did it me for ?3, made quite a nice job of it too.
So im ready to chuck the ast2 in, and the 40s on now.
Hopefully next week.
Carbs are ready to go on, bolted to inlet etc.
Word of advice to anyone with a round port inlet, it seems the cast that the manufacturers make them from isn't really a direct copy of GM heads/inlet.
So bolt the inlet up and you get a "step" as the runner meets the head, could cost a few bhp, and afterall its free power.

All four runners are the same.

Got to wait for me dad get home give me a hand bolting the carbs on, i use m8 bolts instead of studs/nuts so have to hold the weight of the carbs, line inlet up, put bolt in etc, bit difficult with two hands. lol
ooooooo looks good dude!
Cheers Benn.
Carbs on are now, fook me what a battle to get those on. Lol
Got to sort fuel pump and ign coil etc tomorrow, and fingers crossed it might run lol
not using the std pump and that?
Spi pump, with a regulator.
Just hope the regulator can handle the spi pump's pressure.
any news?
Yep there is.
Its Alive and Running :D
Took a while because of a lot of unexpected problems, like the spi coil having 2 ign live wires, but one splices into the spi ign module(which is now unused), so i had no 12v at the Sr coil. That held me up for a bit,Lol.
Also got to run a new wire for rev counter, as spi one is ran through the ecu.
And the lowered alternator bracket jammed the alternator fan blades :wtf: Good job i noticed that before trying to start engine, may have snapped the cambelt/alternator shaft. So i had to get the grinder out(again) and grind down the edge of the bracket.
Now all is good, they fired up quite easily, and sound fookin insane compared to the spi system.
Got to hook up the throttle cables tomorrow, and set the idle mix/balance screw, then go for a drive
Few pics(t'd the return line in, and have the spi pump running from a switched 30A relay, seems to work fine, altho im a bit confused about whether i should turn pump on then try start the engine. Or start the engine(it should fire up from the fuel in the carb bowl, then switch the pump straight on. As with pump on and engine not running where will the fuel go thats being pumped through the line? Down the return?):-

Also got my Satin black rocker cover to fit.
looks great!
do you not need to use the vacuum advance on the dizzy anymore?
Nope.
And besides which my carbs dont have the vacuum advance connections on them, there quite old skool.
All done now, throttle cable arrived from FastRoad Cars today, top guys there. The 1m cable is plenty long enough.
Took a bit of getting used to with the throttle pedal as its opening 4barrels compared to 1 originally, alls good tho, easy to get the hang of after a few miles of driving.
Going to booking it in for a RR setup soon.
Also fitted my satin black sri rocker cover.

Still got the Cesaro wheels to do, as im now spraying them gloss white with smoothed centre caps.
lovin it mate, really want some t40's on mine but after the problems i had with the 32/34 im unsure lol, the satin black rocker cover is a nice touch
Cheers mate.
Cesaro's are now white,Lol.
Still got centre caps to smooth and spray.
Chose white because its different, white car/black rims has been done to death, and white makes the wheels look larger :)

Before PV got both bumpers to respray, and lower rear springs to fit.
May fit GSi skirts sprayed hurricane grey too... Not sure yet.
:thumb::thumb: up, looking good, glad to see you've gone with white wheels and not blended in with the crowd. If i was to do another nova, it would look like this ;)
How hard/easy was it to set the carbs up then? to get it drivable i mean?
Ash
Piece of piss on the carbs, i got lucky and happened to find a set with almost perfect jetting for my engine.
Just set the idle mix by watching the rev counter, set the balance by ear,Lol.
And all is good, idle is quite steady, and it pulls well.
Tiny flat spot just before you go onto the main jet(about 3k rpm), but you can hide that with the accel pump jet.
I get no spitting back through the carbs, no exhaust popping etc, so they must be set up quite well.
Ideally it needs setting up(running a touch rich in i think the prog/idle circuits), but i'd quite easily say i could live with how it drives atm, even drives well at low speeds(pulls in 5th from low revs)
5 throttle pumps to start first thing/in cold weather seems to do the trick on mine, fires up first time, and idle's on its own within a few hundred yards.
Just need replace the camshaft oil seal, i must have nicked it when i was sliding the cam in and its leaking down the back of the cambelt cover slightly. So will get that changed asap.
O, and i need a new top seal for one carb too, its slightly damp with fuel.
But i'd have to buy a complete service kit for just one gasket, so might do that soon and fit new gaskets all round.
ad they look soo nice white! um might buy a set lol
thought about doing mine white, but cant be ****d with keeping them clean
Lol, cheers for comments.
Yeah Ste they may be a bit difficult keep clean, apparent spraying that RainX stuff for windscreens onto the rims helps the dirt not stick.
We'll see,Lol.
think i'll stick to being a sheep and get softstars
yeh get soft stars ste! as said when i spoke to you i'll have yours!
yeh my white cav slabs are a c**t to keep clean! i laquerd them loads etc now its like stains are stuck on them lol so im going to try and wet and sry them to see if it gets them out lol
was waiting for that reply saying you'll have them.. lewis lol
lol i knew you knew it was coming lol
Lol
anyway, back on topic..
pic's of white cesaor's fitted please :D
yeh when they being fitted? cant wait to see it!
Oooo, maybe a while yet,Lol.
Waiting for the paint to fully harden.
And then i hope the tyre fitter doesn't wreck them :(
take all the shelves out the oven, and stick one in at a time, that'll soon harden them lol
Lol, i'll just leave them inside my shed for a week or two.
No rush anyway.
Fantistic thread, just read the whole thing. Love the simple modds (dont alot of similar stuff to my nova, which u will have seen on migweb (GaryVaux - red c16xe nova sri)
Glad u fitted the twin carbs, the c16xe is becomming as common as the 20xe in novas now:(
Wil you be at pvs or billing?
love it :thumb:Quote:
