Looking good, do you have much left to do?
I plan to spray the engine bay next week end. That then is pretty much all the front done. Just done the lower front panel today. All the underneath is done bar 2 coats of blue hammerite.
Then I can make a start on the rear wheel wells and back from that. Already have the axle out and started some stripping back some of the old underseal. The spare wheel well is pretty good and already had some work done on the rear chassis legs.
I need to tidy up the floor on the inside of the car, all holes are plugged just need more seam sealer and paint.
Nice going mate - cant wait to see it done!
With some luck il have some more pictures this weekend of a clean shiney bay
I have to be honest this isn't the best job in the world. Still a few flat spots and run out of lacquer but it's far better than it was. The engine will be covering most of this so not too worried.

Looking well mate.
So I picked up another can of lacquer today as I wasn't 100% happy with the finish. Now I discovered my spraying technique I managed to get a much better gloss finish.
What I have discovered tho is the colour of the car has faded so not as close in match than I had hoped. As I still have to repair the base of both wings and along the bottom edge of the sills I'm worried it will look different.
Reading up on the t-cuts/ clay bars will these really make a huge difference to the paint fade?
Anyway updated pics

So found some more time recently to crack on with this. Really need to get a move on so it can see the road next summer.
So started putting some bits back on this now and got the first coat of paint underneath. Also done a few coats on the inside floor as I was sick at looking at it!
I have new front bearings to be fitted to the front and then they can go back on with the tie bars and new bushes for the bottom arms so they can be refitted. I tried pressing them in myself and it broke the vice so will be taking them to the garage to fit.
All good jobs.
Refitted the sound proofing which is in ok condition, just a little ripped around the accelerator pedal.

I've cleaned up the heater box so that can be reattached tomorrow but will dig out the speedo cable first as I always remembered that being a arse of a job to get that through the hole when the dash was in. Also the knuckles have been collected with new bearings fitted and the bottom arms have new bushes so again can refit tomorrow if time permits.

Ahh so the refitting has begun! The best and most satisfying part!
Does fill good to put it back together. It's just the inner arches and rear floor to finish but they are in far far better condition than the rest was. Just a few welds, a rub down, then under seal and paint. Hopefully the dirty bits will be completed by the end of January whilst still re fitting stuff and starting on the engine.
So most of the front running gear is put back together now, may even drop it on wheels so I can paint where the front axle stands have been for the last year and half. I am having trouble with the passenger ball joint being pressed into the knuckle so borrowing a c clamp to hopefully sort that.

Also fitted the rad fan I had but it is the smaller option and the radiator is a larger one. It's fine and doesn't move but may need to find a larger one once it's running

Have also completed the main underside painting so just leaves the back end to finish. The sound deadening has been removed from the spare wheel well so just needs tidying and I'm in the process of refitting the engine loom to the car.
Talking engine I have shifted the garage around and made up the engine stand so I can crack on with that between jobs this Dec/Jan.

You're flying now mate! What engine' going in? I cant remember!
14nv bottom/ 13sb top with Weber 32/34 dmtl.
Find something like a piper BP285 cam & that thing will feel great
So only had half hour to play today. Refitted the weather strip across the bulkhead, Attached the start/charge loom, battery earth loom and my new expansion tank I got for pennies a year or 2 ago.

Can anyone tell me if this extra earth cable is connected correctly please?
I'm only used to the single earth from the bulkhead to the battery but this one has an extra earth coming from it so I guess it attaches to the other battery terminal?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NOOOO you'll ark out the battery!
Don't worry it's not being wired up to any battery until at least the summer. Suggestions tho?
/cough flames
I've left it there so it's tucked out the way while other stuff gets finished. It looks like it should come into the bay somewhere as the connection will take a larger nut/bolt from the block, bigger than the battery one but cannot see how it comes through. Cannot see anything in the Haynes.
That earth wire connected to the positive battery terminial is a dead short when you connect battery back up. That long earth wire goes to the back of starter motor
So made up my first brake line last night. I purchased the full kit from eBay with the flares and fittings attached so just required bending. So far so good I think, have noticed it's been cut longer than the original so just need to adapt it to fit.
Also as I put the first pipe on the car I had to refit the servo and mc.

Hydraulics & electricals.
WHAT COULD BE BETTER
If you haven't already get the proper brakeline tools - straightener and bender.
Been using the bending tool for these. Both fronts are now made up without any issues so far.
PTFE tape is imo a godsend guarding against leaks
Saw this come up on Facebook a few days ago and was 25mins down the road so took the trip out this morning. Got it for £30 which compared to most coming up for sale recently was a steal.

I already have the top middle vents, shroud and light switch section. Just looking for the speaker covers and the side vent inserts to complete it, but in no rush.

So over the last month I've got a fair few jobs done on this.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...04e5ea7d73.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7b7906f00f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...eec081cc26.jpgAll the dash loom has been repaired and all the former butchering has been corrected to standard (some joints held by sellotape).
Managed to get the dash carcass bolted up today so will need to test everything works next.
Also drilled out the doors for the wiring of the central locking and leccy windows.
Realised there was 2 wires missing from the engine bay (oil pressure sender and water temp), found these cut and taped up so got some new bits soldered in.
I've cleaned up the 1.3 inlet and fitted the conversion plate for the Weber 32/34 so just need the service kit to clean up the carb.

So loosely fitted all the dash switches minus clocks ready to test everything works, this will be soon I hope now.
Also fitted the wiper blades and nut covers I picked up awhile back. Another thing done.
Just in the process of cleaning the cam carrier now the cam has been removed and re attaching the hoses to the fuel tank ready to refit once the rear section of floor is complete.
Once I can get hold of some decent carpet I can get the front seats bolted back in.

Getting there now mate!
Starting to look like a car again!
Fitted the new SR throttle cable and discovered a hidden grommet for the choke cable to pass through so saved me drilling another hole.
Managed to order around 3 metres of the original plastic fuel line (return) which cost £6 delivered so will see what that is like when it arrives and will use copper for the feed. Also sourced a new replacement heater cable for the dash as mine was well used and a clip had snapped.
Started sorting all engine hoses and working out what's left to buy, whilst there I cut the top rad to header silicone one to size.

So thanks to torquey I managed to fit these kick panels, both in good condition as well.
Also wired in and fitted my SR sun visors.
Due to limited working space I had bolted in the passenger seat, also some motivation to keep going!!
