good work,what was the red oxide like to weld through?
I only weld thru the zinc that works well

i only managed to get the top part of the bulkhead back to bare metal. then i painted it with alu zink for now to keep the rust away.
i plan to paint the engine bay over chriatmas when im off for 2 weeks.

It's comin along nicely mate, have you thought about sandblasting the bay etc
My compressor isn't really up to sand blasting. So I might skip the bay and do the arches until I get a bigger one

It makes a step in the new panel so it will slide under the quarter. It also prevents/helps blow thru when welding

It was supposed to be finnished by now. And the fishing season is about to start so I think it will sit there another year
