Edit: Dave I see where you mean now, I had the power file with 60 grit paper all over there so it shouldn't be rust but I'll check that out in the morning.
Engine bay painted, its going to need another coat or two and get some bits that were missed, Gareth was chocking even with a mask on and the heater was on full making it pretty hot in the garage so big thanks to him for that and again big thanks to Danny for all his help.

Thanks Benn, as for the front panel, that bridge will hopefully be crossed in a few weeks then we'll see what happens.Quote:

me gareth and wwmnw have work relay hard this week to get it done. the slam panel will be easy because when it has been fitted the hole lot is getting another coat.
Not bad for my amatuer painting skills, even though you cant screw up a solid colour lol. just needs a final rub down and wet coat when the slam panel is on and job done :thumb:
me thinks you deserve some +rep:thumb:Quote:

What difference does 2K make?
it don't need lacquer as it a flat colour.
the bay is looking good in paint there matey!!
Its is old boy but I was reading somewhere that you can get a lacquer or you can get the paint mixed different so that you could put a lacquer coat on it just so it didnt go sun faded. someone at the paint shop should clarify it. :thumb:Quote:

Little update, no pics as nothing major, keyed the engine bay up again/sanded some runs out, got a slam panel/light surrounds to fit as well but it got bent to buggery in transit  so gonna have to straighten that up then engine bay gets another coat.
Little update, engine bay has been sanded down again as there was a few runs in the paint and primer and the front panel has been tacked on for now just to see how it fits as it was bent to **** in transit while on its way to a local paint shop  :(

Is it just me or does it look like its wearing large reading glasses here lol

I've got suspension sorted, nothing fancy just some TA-Technix coil over front shocks and springs rear I think just to get me going for now, getting them off a mate on friday, I also have an engine sorted I think, all depends if I can get down to it and bring it back up but its just a standard 1.6 16v (another XEL) not bad for £125 including all the running gear :d not that I need it lol
Not bad work mate, it's getting there :)
For now mate aye, its going to get a full respray when me and Gareth have time and the weather improves a bit, so probably not til next year.Quote:

At the moment its located in Gareth's garage but once its out he's got plans to knock his garage down and make one big one, one side for his car and one side for storage (and I'm not allowed to forget that, not that I could if I wanted to ) so not sure where it'll be resprayed and yeah its 2k paint mate.
You using air fed masks with the 2K paint fella or just a face mask with big filters ?
Masks?
Aye, a face mask with filters on the front ?
Just crack a window open a little bit mate.
Mask with big filters lol Gareth uses them in his job sometimes so has one for him, I have to suffer :( lol but I don't go in the garage when he's painting.
Ahh right - Just wanted to know mate as I'm going to be painting my Nova with 2K in my lockup soon enough and I'm going to be using a face mask with 2 filters on the front
Just wondered what it was you lot used...
Cheers :)
The one Gareth uses has just 1 filter on the front but a proper painting filter which can be changed. Not sure where he got it but I'm sure he'll happily post in here and let you know.
The one I've got is a 3M fella that we got at college...Should do the trick I hope
Small update time, me and Gareth made some plates up for the inner wings and Gareth welded them on then fitted the front panel for me :d he does a good job that lad considering the front panel was bent to hell in transit :( I didn't really get much time for pictures as Gareth needed a hand with his now and then and I was attempting some sanding again which I'll be honest, I didn't do a good job today.
Anyway I've got some suspension, unfortunately nothing spectacular just tome TA Technix, I've also been and bought new bottom ball joints, track rod ends and one wheel bearing as they only had one in, will get the other soon hopefully then get them pressed into the hubs. Couple of pictures for now of how its sitting and the suspension kit I got

I use a sundstrom mask with inter changable filters For painting it use 3 filters. There's a fabric filter first then a dust particle filter then the gas particle filter does the job like :thumb:Quote:
