well they never got the garage cleared so i just started working on it.
They are always saying it looks like step toes yard.
The cars got a cover over it but its the old engine, rear axle, exhaust sat behind the car lol. and ive now filled half the garage with bits and bobs off this
ah well needs must lol
Jim if you need and idea's on sorting the rot look in my mate's wip thread, mikec123's 1.6 8v turbo rebuild, he's had to the same on his, it's not the end of the world mate.

yea i know its only 2 plates that need making up but as ive never held a welder before or made plates or anything i might be looking for someone local whos willing to help one weekend for some money, as i dont want to make a pigs ear out of it.
And you moan at me to get on with the VXR, pull ya finger out lad! lol

So with you having the other car is this still going ahead mate?
the other car is my daily driver mate. will have a little bit of tarting up but its just for me to get to and from work.
this is still going ahead just waiting for some money to buy the cage then find someone to weld it in :thumb: along with repairing the rot and Strengthing kit
Do the welding your self, just start with the small stuff and then get stuck in, i never though id say that,but it can be done, learning to weld is like sex, your nervous at first but soon get into it and then quickly feel like it's second nature! lol
got to spread rep before giving it to scott parker again :(
lol im thinking about having ago myself but i think the cage will be welded in by a pro,(so i can get the certificate)
Oh right, what you get a certificate if it's fitted from new by a qualified welder then? Cool..
well on www.customcages.co.uk they say if a qualified welder welds it in or someone who welds some peices of metal and sends it back and passes a test. they will send you out a Msa/Fia certificate

Many even be able sort a welder for you cheap

Right as i cant help but spend money on my daily this has taken a back seat but im hopefully going to go and blag an engine tonight off my missus dad.
Seeing as the engine will be free or near enough free im going to have ago at fitting it.
The donor car is a k reg saab 9000 2.3 turbo :)
this will only be my second conversion but by far the hardest.
I will get some more pics when i get the engine out of the saab.
One quick question, i know ive got to run a vaux gearbox but what to go for? F20 or F28?
I think im going to borrow a mates screwed F20 just to bolt it in there and see what needs doing.

Aye. F20 seeing as its your 1st/2nd ever transplant. It should last OK. The SAAB lump isnt the beast a phase tuned C20LET is.
was thinking F20 but i see that most of the let boys go f28
its alot easier to fit the f20 as you probably know but the upside is the f28 will handle the power alot better, swings and roundabouts..
i think i will just try and get it all in with a F20 until i have the funds for an F28 :)
ive just got to hope that the engine will go in and i can wire it lol
