yea the car looks top notch as is loving the comp's and keeping the ski graphics is a big :thumb: up from me.
Another small update. Not alot today as the garage is fecking freezing and I feel terrible. What I've done may not look alot but scrubbing the inner arches, brake lines, inside the turrets etc to get all the crud off, with a toothbrush, is an awfully tedious job! Then waiting for them to dry out properly and then masking the fiddly brake lines with cold hands is a nightmare! lol On top of this I've had to sit my **** for two hours on the concrete floor and dab the inner arches with hammerite!
Took a few pics of the first coat so thought I'd stick them up as I'm tired an bored...
Pics don't do them justice as thery're looking spot on...

And yesterday I picked up some new bolts to replace the crappy rusty ones...

Will hopefully get all the hubs etc cleaned up and ready to go back on by the end of the weekend.
You're very keen by the sounds of it. Beware of piles though lol
Where did you get the bolts from?
lol Keen? Just want the bloody thing eaxctly how I want it before I MOT it so I have to do as little as possible on it afterwards! Managed to kinda keep shuffling about so wasn't too bad when I finally got up.Quote:

this is 1 sexy nova:thumb: i love it. keep up the good work
Colour-coded inner arches FTW mate :)
How many coats did you give them, did you just paint over the original Underseal stuff ?
That's just the first coat fella. They'll get at least one more coat tomorrow and then that should be them sweet. And yeah I just uber cleaned the original underseal and painted on top of it - will be fine.
Really love this car, it's good to see it in the hands of a true enthusiast. Love what your doing with it and hope you have it for many years to come.
Keep the updates coming!!
wow this is going to be amazing!love it nice work mate :)
awsome work man, looks v. clean and your making it even better.
few bits im not that keen on, but the overrall picture looks too good to knock it.
keep it up :thumb:
How's the arches turned out ?

Are the bolts on the bottom right for the Strut to Hub? If so you really need Lock nuts on them as being where they are theres a good possibility of them slackening.
I would say they are for the tie bars, which aren't nyloc as standard. The strut to hub bolts are the 4 furthest to the left.Quote:

Haven't done much with the car because I HATE painting and that‘s what needs done atm! Finished painting the front arches anyway and yesterday cleaned the tiebars, TCA's etc back to bare metal with a drill and sanding disc and dusted them with high build primer. Have sprayed the tiebars and TCA’s today and I just can’t seem to get a decent finish on them. I build it up in thin layers leaving about 30mins between coats but I’ve still ended up with runs, bubbles and bits where the paint just wont set. Hate trying to spray things with a can! Might just get them powder coated or something and be done with them as it seems I’m just terrible at painting :(
Couple of pics I took dismorning anyhow...
Arches after 1st coat:

And the primered bits (forgot to get any pics of them as bare metal)...

Have left the bits I tried to spray to dry over night and will see what they’re like in the morning
Great work mate :)
Great work. Im planning on doing my arches, really not looking forward to it.
Looking good Matt, those painted inner arches make a lot of difference :thumb:
Looks good mate also liking the painted arches
looks nice matey tidy!!
Cheers!
I'm sick of it atm though. The tiebars etc turned out naff so gonna have to clean them all back again and then take them down the powder coaters to get a decent finish on them. Wont be doing anything for a while now though as I go away again for a couple of weeks tonight so the car will just remain up on axle stands for a while.
Wanted to get all the arches and bits cleaned up and painted during these last two weeks but as I've been ill and not had a car to get about in I've got f*ck all done! Quite pissed off tbh.
Looks much better for the 2nd coat matt! Just think about the end result.
Have you just done the arches with hammerite?Looks a top job.
a up mate ow much were them comps pal and where you get them and car looks mint mate
Yeah, just used Hammerite. First coat takes ages but the second coat takes half the time and finishes it all off nicely.Quote:

Are the centre caps on the comps anodised?? Small touch but I bet they would look awesome in red, to go with the bumpstrips and the pinstripe!!
Ps love it!! Ipitimises the perfect Nova for me!!:thumb:
No real update...
Did a couple of bits with the car this weekend and got it back on four wheels and out the garage. Managed to finally get a nice finish on all the hubs etc and bolted them all back on - I've got some pics on my cam but the battery has died so I'll upload them later.
Haven't been that enthusiastic about the car for the last couple of months as it's just sat in the garage doing nothing so got it out and took some pics on my other cam just for the hell of it...
