Good show that (a car is born)lol
I owned a 1600 mk2 escort for a couple of days in 1990.... I bought it for £50, and discovered it was so rotten, that it would never pass an mot... so I sold it to the scrap man.... on the drive over to the scrappers, I had it so sideways that I was looking out the rear passenger window & still got it round the corner.... its balance was amazing, steering it on the throttle everywhere... they really are very capable cars.... bmw e30s are too... my brother had a 320i in 1991 & it could whallop all the hot hatches that were around in those days, not necessarily over a 1/4 mile, but on a real road over several miles, it was hilarious & its balance at speed was great
I was always a Cortina and capri man and have had many of each model lol.
does anyone know what cars they are doing through this series?
I will stick with it as long as it avoids the Porsche etc brigade.
They were deliberately one of the slowest engine calibrations.
Make the van look nice then van weasel will look after it, but not too fast so van weasel cant get into too much trouble.
I'd have the sport with the TDCI 2.4 145PS cal (although I'd chuck on the 200ps calibration I have ;) )
The program was good, tried to make out that owners club meets were seedy things.... not at all. Owners club meets are ace, been to many Lotus and VX ones where people are just as interested and drive like loons.
A touch more about the build would have been nice but not the end of the world as its still a car program :)
S3 (I think) Landy this week.
"Ant will undertake the ultimate bare metal restorations on each car : the Ford Escort Mexico, Land Rover Series 1, Mini Cooper, MGTC, DeLorean and Triumph Stag."
S1 landy :lol oops.
Wonder when they'll show the Stag one... Might go buy one before it airs as no doubt the prices will go up after that.
how the feck will the bloke do a bare metal restoration of a delorean????
as far as i can remember, its bare stainless steel bonded to grp over a lotus style backbone..... that'll stretch the budget
