Lowered Nova's - Tracking/Wheel Allignment

As has been said it all depends on what type of machine they use.The older style ones usually hang off the tyre and you need to check the backs and take some readings then swap the guages round to the front so with a lowered nova they are unsuitable.

The newer machines use targets on the wheels that clamp onto the actual rim so you have no problems with lowered cars etc(well...only if it wont get on the ramp!)and they also are digital and you normally get a before and after print out showing camber,caster and toe.

Plus with getting a printout your not just taking someones word for it that its set as it should be.

i know you guys will all have your different opions on this but if i was you i would get it toed in about 1ml-2ml across the front. in my past experience if you set a lowered nova paralell across the front you will still get mega wear on the inside of the tyres. if you toe it in a little, it helps make them wear a bit more evenly. also as for the rear guages..if they are the type that sit on top of the tyre, you can turn the part that sits on the tyre, away from the wheel so you can get a reading from it

Fit some standard size steelies to have it checked, then re-fit alloys after, simples!

With the lazer tracking it will be fine, when i use to be at a better college they had lazer tracking and we had a range rover sport come in, it had been lowered but unsure what by, but his arches were over his alloys , we had no trouble doing his.. lazer is the best and can always give an accurate reading :thumb:

Got it done today :thumb: Also had new Trackrod Ends fitted last night as one was mega mega slack and had loads of play

They said they couldn't do the back...? But they clamped the front wheels and done it with laser and done it that way...Seems to have worked as the car feels more planted and 'on the road'

Did they do anyone elses that way ? £15 they took as well :)

the backs dont need adjusted as its a fixed axle so when you lower it the wheels drop equally. but 60mm drop will still give front tyre wear on the inner edge over time.

Took my last to one of these super-duper 4 wheel geometry blah alignment places and they couldn't get the rigs to fit under the back arches. Cesaros on 185/45 lowered 40mm

Did they give you your camber reading aswell Vaughan?
