I would.
A let will be moving about on the mounts(if youve seen one of a RR, they jump and dive everywhere lol ), so worthwhile doing.
Unless its on solid mounts.

The rear mount is solid. Fronts are std. The same exhaust has run on Dave's old red nova turbo for about a year now with no problems. It was made by JP exhausts (same place makes ricks)
Hopefully it'll be ok, but if not i'll sort it :)
There should be a flexi joint where the downpipe bolts to the 90* elbow on the turbo.
I wouldn't bother fixing the exhaust to the rear mount either, if the flexi mount is on the elbow then the whole system is gonna shift around slighty, fixing it to the rear mount will only cause (possible) probs if you ask me.
Shouldn't jump around the engine bay either, decent solid mount on the rear and some good standard (filled with stikaflex) ones up front are more than enough to hold it solid, mine doesn't budge at all !
cripes, build standards are amazing..
I'm not sure why JP didnt fit a flexi, they made the exhaust on Dave's old car, and made a copy for me, both didnt have a flexi. I didnt notice until I got it home but since its run fine on Dave's, i'll not worry about it.Quote:

Dec's thread, the most amazing thing ive ever seen, shouldnt be compared with tbh - that one is a bit too 'dont touch it' and it would do the same to me.
Im confident that you will and should do the same as you did with NDZ - that never ended up looked sorry/ tired for itself..
Its the only way the project would be a success anyway.
Well i've just discovered that I've got the wrong altenator. Its from a 2.0L 8v, and the belt catched hard on the cambelt cover when fitted.
Has anyone got an astra GTE 16v Altenator in very good condition?
Keith
Dod to the Rescue again!! See you at 4!
What would be done without you boss lol
LOL!!! You need anything down while he's up?
You are a legend! I'll bring that 8v altenator for you too, you might as well find someone for it as its brand new.Quote:

Fitted my new skirts tonight:

I didnt fancy drilling the sills, so the clips are fitted with very strong bonding, My other nova has been like this for nearly 2 years and is still perfect :thumb:
I somehow lost my turbo manifold nuts, so ordered some yesterday from Autovaux, and they arrived this morning at 9.30am, RESULT!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_4297.jpg
Also sourced the correct Altenator from Dod (thanks mate), gave it a quick clean and got it fitted, its still not 100% pretty, but its impossible to see when the inlet / tophat cover is on so i'm not going to worry too much.
And finally I fitted the correct cambelt cover, rocker cover, and then threw the fanbelt on.

Still to do before the start:
- Collect and fit new passanger engine mount
- Fit intercooler and radiator
- Collect and fit inlet manifold and all sensors etc that join to it.
Then i'm good to prime the engine and work on getting it started. I'm going to set a target of next weekend, but hopefully i'll have it sorted before then (Inlet dependent)
Thanks
Keith
Looking good Keith, certainly cracking on with it now!! Wish i made progress at the same rate as you fella!!
looks stunning keith , cant wait to see this hope it makes it to the rolling road day :D .
Excellent!! Not long now then?

looking good keith..
Good to see some positive progress mate :)
Not long now!
Well, I got my new engine mount, and oil return pipe for the turbo. Also collected my inlet manifold but dont have a gasket to properly fit it yet :( However i've put it in position to make sure i've got all the correct pipes etc.
Custom hidden Intercooler and rad combo that was made last year for the car is now fitted, its bloody tight, but I didnt want a big intercooler sticking out the bumper. - Huge thanks to Andy Bishop for sorting it.

Inlet blasted clean, and tempory fitted until the gasket comes:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_4302.jpg
Bonnet shut. Have to modify the grill slightly to allow it to fit.

I've also filled the engine with oil, removed the spark plugs and spun it over for a few 20 second intervils. This should get the oil into the turbo and up round the engine. I'll do it again before I finally start it.
Keith
dum dum duuuum! the day is nearing! :thumb:Quote:

Nice keith.
When you prime the engine do it with the turbo oil return off and dont start it untill you see oil running from the oil return into a tub on the floor.
Nice one Keith, i have to say after seeing Andy's IC/rad setup, very cool indeed. Stealthy
Did you not prime the turbo before you fitted it?
She'l be minted once shes done mate
Looks awsome :)
I poured some oil into it as stated in a guide i read.Quote:

Little bit done today:
Had to modify the grill slightly so it would fit over the intercooler:

And the grill and bumper are now finally fitted!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_4308.jpg
Keith
Cant believe how quickly youve cracked on with this.
Great stuff
Cheers, I've the inlet almost built up fully now. Just need the gasket now, and an oil pressure sender & switch combo, because mine is just the switch type. Want to have an oil reading before I start it!!
Keith
Absolutely awsome mate
Will be good to see it out on the open roads :)
looking good :thumb: 2 you for being so patient.
moving along nicely now, proper mint
Good to see you cracking on mate!! Had a good look at andys cooler last year the fabrication is awesome! :)
