Good work dude but I'd be a bit sceptical of that hose between the filler neck, in the back of my mind I'd be wondering when it'll split and fill up the inner wing.
thanks guys.
im not worried about the hose splitting tek, its 3 layers with a spiral wire all the way through it. it dont flex or bend so i dont think it will split. pic of said layers...

a fair few months ago i got a set of calipers and carriers off a vectra to use on the nova. they've been sat in the box since i got them and were'nt in the best looking state. i didnt fancy spending 15pound to have them shot blasted as i thought with alot of work i could get them back to bare metal and paint them.
without wanting to put too much elbow grease in, i thought id try some hammerite rust remover. cost a couple quid so gave it a go.

diluted the correct amount, plus a tagde more. left one of the calipers in there to soak for 24hours. when i took the caliper out it looked exactly how it did when i put it in. hmmm...washed it off and wire brushed it. surprisingly the rust came off quite well. the thicker layers off rust i used a wire wheel on.

came out like this....

got the other caliper and the frames to clean up next. then ill assemble the calipers with new seals once ive painted them.
went down to the car tonight to sort out the fuel pipes. got them laid down ready to be 'p' clipped and riveted down. got to flare the ends aswell so the fuel hose wont come off as easy. will be saturdays job.

thanks for looking
Coming along well, edit, read a page back. You really want as few joins as poss on the fuel pipe work. The smell gets right thru the joins and it can leak like a sieve.
tbh benn i think it will have the same amount of joins as the original pipework. im just running it through the car to hide it from underneigth.
Pretty think hose but I'd still be a bit 'errr' about about it. That's just me though. I never bothered using the rust remover. Just wire brush and drill for me always does the trick.
Looking good though :thumb:
I ment on the filler pipe work.

ill see how it goes, if it becomes unbearable ill think about making one solid pipe. i dont have power down my garage so i cant tack a weld here and there on various pipes until i get it right, id be there weeks if i was to test fit one piece, take it to work and weld, try it back in the car, weld another bit on etc.
thanks for the info though :thumb:
i normally use the wire wheel at work, but with having work colleagues complaining of rust dust going in there sandwiches at lunch does get on my nerves.Quote:
