The rear arches had a couple of tiny bubbles but as I know shaun had these repaired previously I bought some rear arches as I thought we may need them. Both rear wheel arches were sanded back to see what lied beneath........

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1268858472
And apart from a few small areas they did look very clean but as I didnt want to be repairing them again in the future the decision was made to fit arches anyway. And to be quite honest it was a decision well made as once the arches were cut out there was some corrosion on the inners too. This was all removed and plated up but what we've done is an idea used by pms on andy and karl rowntrees cars....... The inners have had the lips and a section above removed so the lower quarter area is now only single skin. The new outer lip is then folded over the inner and metal bolded to completely enclose it. However the smallest section possible has been fitted both sides. Heres the new arches going in........

Welded in.....

Top bombing Nick!
Both arches have also been rolled over with a nice taper at either end same as the front wings etc..........

And the new inners were also sealed in from the inside too........

Are you leaving the fuel filler neck body colour?
Funk didn't know you had cracked on with the arch repair too.
Looking good, you've done like i did with my arch lips too.
Are you not running rear seats then?
Whilst my panel guy was sorting the arches I was on with preparing the rear of the car..........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1268860028
All bracketery has been removed cleanly and the rear smoothed so Ive kept all brackets just in case they are needed in the future etc.

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1268860130

de-nib = to flat inperfections from the paint rather then flatting the hole painted area before buffing.Quote:

Not to worry Mark, with them being so heavily wrapped there's no way you could have known. Dont worry about it!Quote:

A little more before I turn in them this eves.......
There was a small piece behind the rear boot seal that needed a little attention so a small plate was cut and welded in followed by a small skim of filler......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip305-1.jpg
The car then went back on its rear wheels so it could be rolled into the booth for primer........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip306-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip307-1.jpg
And into the booth.........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip318-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip319-1.jpg
Then masked for primer.........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip323-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip324-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip325-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip326-1.jpg
And primed along with a couple of other small repairs that wanted a little primer............
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip327-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip328-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip330-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip331-1.jpg
The primer will be left for a few days to allow for any movement as they were fair size repairs etc. It didnt stop me cracking on though! Rear wheel arches were gravitex'd over the seam sealer behind the arch for max protection etc........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip334-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip333-1.jpg
A few days later the primer was then slowly blocked down and stoppered were needed...........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip336-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip337-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip338-1.jpg
Once all small imperfections were stoppered I thought Id carry on with some more gravitexing adding it to a few more areas than usual for extra protection.........
All masked up and fine line taped for a minimal sharp edge........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip339-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip340-1.jpg

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...bowip342-1.jpg
I went right along the sills across the rear panel and around the rear arches too. Ive actually taken the stone guard to the nearest edge on the sill so the whole sills are protected not just two thirds like normal.
Here shows some finished results......

Awesome mate! You don't fcuk about do you! I love the high level of detail in all you do. as we all know it's what makes cars like this (and your mk2) what they are. I'm a big fan of colour coding when done tright, and I would have done the same with the wheels and bumpers. A great choice that looks superb. :thumb:
great work and energy you must drink alot of redbull

Hate to say it Nick - your SR is better looking than mine lol!
