http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_3970.jpg
So I fitted the rear shocks (top bolt tight, bottom bolt loose until I refurb the springs)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_3964.jpg
Cleaned the rear springs, However I think they will need sandblasted and re-painted!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_3967.jpg
And gave the rear calipers a coat of Silver, Will fit them when I've got some new pads.

I havent fitted the front coilovers as i'm waiting on some new concentric alloy top mounts that I ordered today.
Until next time!
Keith
boooo I wanted slammed on its ass pics from tonight!
Not just yet! I thought the springs would be ok, but I've ran them in my GTE rep since x-mas and the powdercoat has started flaking off, so they'll need blasted and painted :( More bloody work!!
Keith
why not run them as they are?
Thats a difficult one to answer.Quote:

Nightmare, Sometimes I wish I never started lol
Keith
Fit them, order new ones and then when you get them fit the old ones to the GTE rep
Good idea Mark!Quote:

It's looking really good now though Keith,so keep on ploding on.

Brake calipers now dry, and fitted along with new pads and a new fitting kit.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_3982.jpg
I also used some nifty bits from Maplin to secure the fuel lines without drilling the shell.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_3981.jpg
One side of the handbrake cable is fitted, and brand new mechanism purchased, however I need to modify the cavalier short cable to allow it to fit.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_3979.jpg
Thats one side complete now, and I'm glad it's looking so tidy.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...7/100_3977.jpg
I tightened up the rear bearings on the discs and tested the new shocks for clearance.

Just waiting on topmounts to fit the front coilovers.
Keith
Loving the way its comming along now, sweetness.. Loving the slamboed look!
Looks great mate, are you fitting skirts?
Yeah, Have two new sets in the loft ;)
looking well sir!!
cant wait to get to see it in person
You cutting the rear arches or you had them widened?? No way you will be able to drive it like that surly. Especially when you put your foot down
does look very nice though looking forward to seeing this in person
Trust me, Arches have plenty of clearance, and there is no springs in the car for that photo, it wont be that low. Even at its lowest point they cant catch.
Keith
You sure keith. Have you taken into account deflection in the bush, the beam and the tyre when cornering heavily?
Beautiful!!!
Yeah I have, the picture is too dark for you to see the proper gap, it looks touching in the photo but there's really about 3mm gap.Quote:

Same on my old nova i had a decent amount of space. New bushes or poly bushes will help though im sure
coming along nicely now, looks amazing, so clean, unbelievable
If it's really a problem, you could get a couple of mm Machined off the face off the wheel ? (Obv not so much it hits the shock)

During weekdays I cycle to work (yes really - Holland has the most expensive petrol in the world - b4st4rds) which is 14 miles. Then 14 miles to get back home, after which I feel like doing nowt. Could probably do with some proton pills to get my lower backside in gear after tea! :p
Anyway enough pathetic ranting for now. Keith, well impressed with your project. Gives me lots of motivation to restore the Red Shed (about time too - it's been sitting in my drive for over 2 years now). Regarding the broken oil feed on your block: I know how it feels mate. Well gutted. Ugh.
Cheers from that there Holland,
Niek
TBH, i see where you coming from, but they're refunding hiim and flocking as well for nowt. Surely tey wouldn't NEED to make up a story like that when you'd be over the moon with 'em?!Quote:

Hey Niek, good to hear from you, not seen much from you since the old yahoo e-groups nova group!Quote:

You shout put up a projects thread to help get motivation for the build, sometimes coming here to read the positive comments really helps!
Keith
Looking cracking Keith, you must have spent a fortune on dealer parts. Well worth every penny:thumb:
IMO dont fit the skirts,it will look so much better without,
Cant you get the springs plastic coated (like a flexible rubber paint/powder coat)
love this thread and the work involved;) ,only gives others the insperation.
keep up the good work kieth:thumb:
